In Thy name, we live
Episode 9: Al-Wakeel (The Ultimate Trustee)
In the name of Allah[1], The All-Merciful, The Ever-Merciful, all praises be to Allah, Lord of the worlds[2]. All Prayers and Blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah (SAWS)[3].
Today we will talk about a very beautiful name that gives us a sense of comfort, safety, and reassurance. Understanding this name is especially helpful to those who are depressed, anxious, or worried about their future. The name we are going to deal with today is “Al-Wakeel”, or “The Ultimate Trustee”.
Today’s episode will deal with five main points: an introduction, the meaning of The Ultimate Trustee, how can one determine whether he/she truly trusts Allah (SWT)[4], examples of how Allah (SWT) always supports those who trust Him and grants them victory, and finally, some beautiful meanings related to the name, “The Ultimate Trustee”.
First, let us start with the introduction. I would like to say that all people need to understand the meaning of “The Ultimate Trustee”, including parents who are worried about their children and youth who are worried about their future, job opportunities, marriage, etc. This name also touches those who have big dreams and plans but are afraid to fail. Every single person in this nation needs to understansd this name.
What does the “The Ultimate Trustee” mean? When you go to a notary public’s office to issue someone a general power of attorney, the officer asks you if you are sure about this. A general power of attorney means that you give this person the authority to act on your behalf in all your affairs. To give someone a general power of attorney, he/she must meet three essential criteria: he must be worthy of your trust, he has to be experienced, and he must truly care about your welfare. It is difficult to find a person who can fulfill these three criteria, but Allah (SWT), being The Ultimate Trustee, fulfills them all!
Every ayah[5] in which Allah calls on people to make Him their trustee is preceded by a description of His power and authority. Allah (SWT) says what can be translated as, “And to Allah belongs the Unseen of the heavens and the earth; and to Him all Command will be returned. So worship Him and put your trust in Him…” (TMQ[6], 11: 123). Also, He (SWT) says what can be translated as, “The Lord of the east and the west; there is no god except He; so take Him for yourself as an Ever-Trusted Trustee” (TMQ, 73: 9). You should feel safe and reassured when you listen to such ayahs! We entrust Allah because He is the Lord of the universe and everything in the universe belongs to Him. How could we trust weak people and not trust Him?
Please do not misunderstand me. We have to trust people too and resort to them when we need help. For example, we should go to a qualified physician when we feel sick or seek out officials whom we think can help us in our affairs. However, we should always bear in mind that only Allah (SWT) has the control and power over all things.
So what does “The Ultimate Trustee” mean? It means that He kindly controls His worshippers’ affairs and takes care of them. He never abandons them nor leaves them to someone else. Even if everyone is against you, you should feel safe because Allah is your trustee and He will protect you.
Listen to the following ayah, “The ones to whom the multitude (Literally: mankind) said, ‘Surely the multitude have already gathered against you, so be apprehensive of them.’ Yet, it increased them in belief, and they said, ‘Allah is The Reckoner enough for us, and how excellent is The Ever-Trusted Trustee!’” (TMQ, 3: 173). This ayah is talking about the Prophet’s companions after the Battle of Uhud. Many of them died and were injured in this battle, and the rest were feeling down and distressed. The Prophet (SAWS) knew that Quraish may return to fight them again, so he told his companions that no one shall fight with him again except those who fought with him in the Battle of Uhud. On their way to Madinah, and at a place called “Hamra’ al-Asad”, the Muslims received a messenger from Quraish sent to instill fear into them. The messenger told the Prophet that Quraish had donned its war attire and that they have gathered all Arabs to fight them. The Prophet (SAWS) said nothing but cried out with his companions, “Allah suffices us, for He is the best disposer of affairs.” This cry scared the messenger who returned to Quraish and told them that the Muslims are uttering [passionate] words; they will eat you alive! Listen to the next ayah (which follows the ayah above), “So they turned over (Or: turned around) with favor from Allah and (His) Grace; no odious (disadvantage) did touch them; and they followed closely the all-blessed Satisfaction of Allah; and Allah is The Owner of magnificent Grace” (TMQ, 3: 174).
For this reason, the Prophet (SAWS) teaches us to entrust Allah at all times. One of the dhikr (the remembrance of Allah) that he has ordered us to say every morning and evening is “Allah is enough (Reckoner) for me. There is no god except He. In Him I have put my trust; He is the Lord of the Magnificent Throne”. He (SAWS) tells us that he who says this seven times every morning, will have Allah care for his affairs that day. Similarly, the Prophet (SAWS) ordered us to say once we leave our houses, “In the name of Allah, I entrust my soul to Allah, and there is no power but in Allah”. He who says this, will be guided, defended, and protected, and no devil will be able to mislead him.
What Are The Signs That You Are Entrusting Your Soul To Allah?
First, if you find yourself repeating the name of The Ultimate Trustee and experiencing this feeling of entrusting your soul to Allah in times of difficulties, then you are truly trusting Allah with your soul. Our example in this is Ibrahim (AS) (Abraham). When he was about 16 years of age, he was accused of destroying the idols his tribe worshipped. As a result of this unforgiveable crime, he was convicted to be burnt alive. A huge construction was built, then set on fire so he would be thrown in. Allah says about this what can be translated as "They said, ‘Burn him away and vindicate your gods, in case you are performing that’” (TMQ, 21: 68). However, Ibrahim (AS) remained steadfast and assured. When he was about to be thrown into the fire, Jibril (AS) (Gabriel) came to him and asked whether he wanted anything. He replied that he wanted nothing from Jibril (AS), but from Allah; he uttered the phrase "Allah suffices me, for He is the best disposer of affairs". As a reward for his great trust in Allah, He, the Omnipotent, ordered the fire to change its qualities in order not to burn Ibrahim (AS). Allah says about this what can be translated as, “We said, ‘O fire, be coolness and peace upon Ibrahim!’” (TMQ, 21: 69).
Second, the more difficult the situation is, the more common it is for people to lose hope; whereas he who entrusts his soul to Allah is more optimistic as the situation gets darker. The Ultimate Trustee sometimes tests you by destroying the worldly means on which you depend. If you lose hope, then you were not truly entrusting your soul to Allah. An evident example of this, is the Prophet (SAWS) during the Year of Grief. When he most needed his uncle Abu-Taleb and his wife Khadijah, they both passed away in the same month. The important lesson Allah wanted to teach his Prophet was, "I am the Protector. I am the Ultimate Trustee".
Another example from seerah (the biography of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS)) is the journey of the Prophet (SAWS) to Taif. He walked for 100km in order to call the people of Taif to Islam, but they refused to believe. Moreover, they hit him with stones until his feet bled, but The Ultimate Trustee was always there for him. On his way back to Makkah, the boy Addas believed in his message; and when he started to read Qur'an aloud, jinn[7] heard him and believed in Allah. After this, the incident of al-israa and al-mi’raj[8] took place in which he was honored in heaven, then al-Ansar (the residents of Madinah) believed in him and supported him until hijrah (the migration from Makkah to Madinah) took place. Allah decides what is best for you; so trust Him!
Third, never earn your living in an unlawful way, as Allah is The Sustainer and The Superb Provider. There is a very good example which shows how man is unaware that Allah is The Superb Provider. The embryo in his mother's womb is blessed by one source of food through the mother's blood. When the baby is born, he cries for losing this known source, so Allah gives him two sources for food instead; milk from his mother's breasts. After being weaned, he cries for losing these sources, so Allah gives him four sources of food instead; meat, fish, water and milk. At his deathbed, he cries for leaving the world which he knows, so Allah opens jannah (Paradise) to him which has eight doors. How short-sighted man is?!
Fourth, do not be too anxious about the future. Fear and anxiety about one's future is normal; however, being too anxious means that you do not entrust your soul to Allah.
Fifth, work hard and at the same time believe in your heart in The Ultimate Trustee. An example of this is hijrah – the best situation to teach us how one can entrust one's soul to Allah. The Prophet (SAWS) depended on worldly means and planned for hijrah perfectly and creatively. However, when he and his companion were overtaken by the people of Quraish, the Prophet (SAWS) put his faith in Allah and said to Abu-Bakr, calming him down, “What do you think is the destiny of two people who have Allah for their Companion?"
Examples of Those Who Entrusted Their Souls to Allah
Lady Hajar, wife of Ibrahim (AS), demonstrated to us a great example in entrusting one's soul to Allah when Ibrahim (AS) left her in the desert with their child Isma’il (AS) (Ishmael). She asked Ibrahim (AS) if it was Allah who ordered him to do so, and he replied yes, so she said with conviction, "then He shall not forsake us".
One of the nicest instances of entrusting one's soul to Allah is Istikhara[9] prayer. Istikhara results only in good outcomes because it is a trust in Allah's choice. However, never be passively dependent on Allah. In the journey of al-israa and al-mi’raj, the prophet (SAWS) tied al-Buraq[10], although it was not in danger of running away, because he was used to considering worldly means in addition to trusting Allah.
How to Entrust Your Soul to Allah?
We have to train ourselves to trust in Allah. When Musa (AS) (Moses) saw the cane turning into a snake for the first time, he ran away in fear. The second time around, he did not run; however, he entertained a fright within himself, being confronted by the magicians. Whereas the third time, the most difficult of these situations, when the army of the Pharaoh was behind them and the sea in front of them, he had no fear; he said what can be translated as, "Not at all. Surely my Lord is with me; He will soon guide me" (TMQ, 26: 62).
What's Our Duty Towards This Name?
Train yourself how to entrust your soul to Allah. Develop the habit of saying in dhikr (the remembrances of Allah) every morning and evening, "Allah suffices me, for He is the best disposer of affairs". Highlight this value in your life.
[1] The word Allah is the Arabic term for God. Although the use of the word "Allah" is most often associated with Islam, it is not used exclusively by Muslims; Arab Christians and Arabic-speaking Jews also use it to refer to the One God. The Arabic word expresses the unique characteristics of the One God more precisely than the English term. Whereas the word "Allah" has no plural form in Arabic, the English form does, and the word 'Allah' in Arabic has no connotation of gender. Allah is the God worshipped by all Prophets, from Adam to Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.
[2] Mankind, jinn and all creation
[3] Salla Allah alayhe Wa Salam [All Prayers and Blessings of Allah be upon him]
[4] SWT = Subhanahu wa Ta'ala [Glorified and Exalted Be He].
[5] A verse in the Qur'an
[6] TMQ=Translation of the Meaning of the Qur'an. This translation is for the realized meaning, so far, of the stated (Surah:Ayah) of the Qur'an. Reading the translated meaning of the Qur'an can never replace reading it in Arabic, the language in which it was revealed.
[7] An invisible being of fire
[8] the night journey of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) from Makkah to Jerusalem and his ascension to the seventh heaven
[9]It is a prayer, in which one asks Allah to choose for him the better of two paths. It is performed in two raka’as (one unit of Islamic prayer) after which a certain dua’a (supplication) is said.

The Seven Layers of Earth |
|
A Miracle of the Quran and the Prophetic Tradition
Written by Abdul-Dayem Al-Kaheel
Probing the depths of the Earth and taking pains to uncover the secrets of its internal structure and composition, scientists came to realize that the old myths about the Earth are scientifically baseless. Scientists in the twentieth century decided that the Earth consists of only three layers. Having discovered the sphericity of the Earth, they suggested that this sphere comprises three parts; the core, the crust which is very thin compared to the total volume of the Earth and a third layer in between the two called The Mantle.
Evolution of the scientific facts
However, the three-layer theory didn’t hold true for long, owing to recent discoveries in Geology. Measurements and recent tests showed that the pressure of the material of the Earth’s core is immense and reaches three million times the pressure at the surface.
Under such pressure the material transforms into the solid state, which means that the core of the Earth is solid and is enclosed by a liquid layer of extremely high temperature. This also means that the core of the Earth consists of 2 layers not just one; a solid inner core and a liquid upper core.
Measurement devices developed and scientists were able to observe a clear distinction between the different parts of the Earth’s interior. A layer of hot rocks underneath the crust was discovered, that is the Lithosphere. Underneath the Lithosphere are three layers distinct in density, pressure and temperature.
Having discovered these layers, scientists found themselves dividing the Earth into seven layers and no more. The Cut-away view below shows these layers drawn to scale according to the recent findings of scientists. The fact that the Earth comprises seven layers is established. It is taught at universities and observed through seismographs and through studying the magnetic field of the Earth.
Scientists also found out that the atom consists of seven layers which confirms the uniformity of the creation because the system that governs the creation of the whole universe is one, the earth consists of seven layers and each atom on it consists of seven layers too.

The figure demonstrates the seven layers of the Earth. We note the thin crust then the four layers of the Mantle increasing gradually in thickness. Next is the liquid outer core then the solid inner core. They all add up to seven layers.
The layers of the Earth are radically different in composition, density, temperature and material. Hence, the Earth can not be considered as one layer as was previously believed. The notion of the seven layers is relatively new and didn’t exist at the time the Quran was revealed. Scientists in the twenty-first century concluded that the Earth consists of seven layers, but what does the Quran have to say about that?
What the Quran says:
Telling of the seven layers of the Heavens and the Earth, God says in the Holy Quran:
1- He (Allah) Who created the seven heavens one above the other – [Al Mulk: 3]
2- Allah is He Who created seven heavens and the earth the like of them – [ Al Talaaq: 12]
The first verse is talking about two characteristics of the heavens; their number, that is seven, and the arrangement of them (one above the other) or ‘in layers’. The second verse asserts the similarity between the Earth and the heavens (And the Earth the like of them), so as the heavens consist of seven layers, the earth identically consists of seven layers.
Let’s ponder on (one above the other). It denotes the layering of the Earth, and this is what today’s scientists discovered. Now we can see that the Quran had determined the structure of the Earth, which is in layers, and had also determined the number of these layers, that is seven. In other words, the Quran had given a precise description of the earth’s interior, thus it preceded the scientists of the twenty-first century by fourteen centuries in proving this fact. Isn’t this a splendid miracle of the Quran?
What the Hadith says:
Pondering on the Hadith (sayings) of Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we’ll find one that asserts the existence of the seven layers of the earth concentric and one above the other. The prophet (PBUH) said: (Whoever usurps even one span of the land, his neck will be encircled because of it with seven earths) [narrated by Al Bukhari]. Here the prophet gave another characteristic of the layers, encirclement, by saying (will be encircled with it) and this is how the layers truly look like, they are concentric and each one encircles the one underneath it.
The question here is: Isn’t this a great miracle of the prophet? Not just that the Hadith determines the number of the earth’s layers, seven, and determines the arrangement of these layers, but it also bears an indication to the sphericity of the earth.
From this article we find that the Holy Quran and the Hadith reached these facts about the earth long before modern science did. The Quran had given us the precise description of the earth’s internal structure (layers one above the other) and also had given us the exact number of these layers, seven, while it took scientists long years of theorizing and re-theorizing to come up with the same conclusions. So exalted be Allah who said in His Holy Book : (And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure- and also in yourselves, can ye then not see) [Al Thariaat: 21-22].

Start of Universe in holy quran
|
|
By Dr: Salama Abdelhady
We may look to the God’s description of the start of creation in Qur’an and in Bible. It will be seen that the Qur’an is the Holy Book which is revealed to Mohamed from the Wise and The All-Knowing God. However, the wording of the same facts in the Bible shows there were some hands which cast these facts in a human-lagging style. It can be found in the Bible some descriptions which are not corresponding to the modern sciences. This fact is declared by the Catholic Church in an article with the title:
“Catholic Church no longer swears by truth of the Bible", By Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent, on timesonline”
Now, let us read how the Quran described the start of the universe. Such moment that had not been witnessed by any one of us as the Quran states in the following verse:
[18/51] I called them they have not witnessed the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor (even) their own creation: So, it is for Me to help and lead them to know and not to go astray!
The creation of the universe had been done by the will, science and wisdom of the Creator. This creation is described in many surahs (chapters) of the Quran. Each surah looks at specific view of such wisdom and knowledge. We may read in Chapter 41 (Surat Fossilat):
[41/9-12] Say: "Is it that ye deny Him Who created the earth in two Days? and do ye join equals with Him? He is the Lord of (all) the whole universe", He set on the (earth). Mountains standing firm (to stretch the surface layers by its roots), high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and created the measures therein for every thing to give them nourishment in due proportions, in four Days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (sustenance), Moreover, He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke: He said to it and to the earth: "Come ye together (mutually), willingly or by our implement " They said: "We do come (each follow a specific order), in a willing obedience.", So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command (orbits and motion). And We adorned the lower heaven with lights (from the sun and the moon), and (provided it) with a guard (guarding layers of Ozone). Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge.
Summing up the number of days will be more than six days. But there is an overlap in these days which you may see in modern project management. Such overlap stands for the difference in the number of days.
Now, compare these stages of creation, into the same story as expressed in the Bible, i.e. the Old Testament.
Genesis 1
The Creation of the World
1:1 In the beginning1 God2 created3 the heavens and the earth.4
1:2 Now5 the earth6 was without shape and empty,7 and darkness8 was over the surface of the watery deep,9 but the Spirit of God10 was moving11 over the surface12 of the water.13 1:3 God said,14 “Let there be15 light.”16 And there was light! 1:4 God saw17 that the light was good,18 so God separated19 the light from the darkness. 1:5 God called20 the light “day” and the darkness21 “night.” There was evening, and there was morning, marking the first day.22
1:6 God said, “Let there be an expanse23 in the midst of the waters and let it separate water24 from water. 1:7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it.25 It was so.26 1:8 God called the expanse “sky.”27 There was evening, and there was morning, a second day.
1:9 God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place28 and let dry ground appear.”29 It was so. 1:10 God called the dry ground “land”30 and the gathered waters he called “seas.” God saw that it was good.
1:11 God said, “Let the land produce vegetation:31 plants yielding seeds according to their kinds,32 and33 trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” It was so. 1:12 The land produced vegetation – plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. God saw that it was good. 1:13 There was evening, and there was morning, a third day.
1:14 God said, “Let there be lights34 in the expanse35 of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs36 to indicate seasons and days and years, 1:15 and let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” It was so. 1:16 God made two great lights37 – the greater light to rule over the day and the lesser light to rule over the night. He made the stars also.38 1:17 God placed the lights39 in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth, 1:18 to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness.40 God saw that it was good. 1:19 There was evening, and there was morning, a fourth day.
1:20 God said, “Let the water swarm with swarms41 of living creatures and let birds fly42 above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” 1:21 God created the great sea creatures43 and every living and moving thing with which the water swarmed, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. God saw that it was good. 1:22God blessed them44 and said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.”45 1:23 There was evening, and there was morning, a fifth day. 1:24 God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: cattle, creeping things, and wild animals, each according to its kind.”46 It was so. 1:25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the cattle according to their kinds, and all the creatures that creep along the ground according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.
1:26Then God said, “Let us make47 humankind48 in our image, after our likeness,49 so they may rule50 over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth,51 and over all the creatures that move52 on the earth.”
1:27 God created humankind53 in his own image, in the image of God he created them,54
male and female he created them.55
1:28 God blessed56 them and said57 to them, “Be fruitful and multiply! Fill the earth and subdue it!58 Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the ground.”59 1:29 Then God said, “I now60 give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the entire earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.61 1:30And to all the animals of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to all the creatures that move on the ground – everything that has the breath of life in it – I give62 every green plant for food.” It was so.
1:31 God saw all that he had made – and it was very good!63 There was evening, and there was morning, the sixth day.Genesis 22:1 The heavens and the earth1 were completed with everything that was in them.2 2:2 By3 the seventh day God finished the work that he had been doing,4 and he ceased5 on the seventh day all the work that he had been doing. 2:3 God blessed the seventh day and made it holy6 because on it he ceased all the work that he7 had been doing in creation.8
The Creation of Man and Woman
2:4 This is the account9 of the heavens and the earth10 when they were created – when the Lord God11 made the earth and heavens.12
2:5Now13 no shrub of the field had yet grown on the earth, and no plant of the field14 had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.15 2:6 Springs16 would well up17 from the earth and water18 the whole surface of the ground.19 2:7 The Lord God formed20 the man from the soil of the ground21 and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life,22 and the man became a living being.23
2:8 The Lord God planted an orchard24 in the east,25 in Eden;26 and there he placed the man he had formed.27 2:9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow from the soil,28 every tree that was pleasing to look at29 and good for food. (Now30 the tree of life31 and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil32 were in the middle of the orchard.)
2:10 Now33 a river flows34 from Eden35 to water the orchard, and from there it divides36 into four headstreams.37 2:11 The name of the first is Pishon; it runs through38 the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. :12 (The gold of that land is pure;39 pearls40 and lapis lazuli41 are also there). 2:13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it runs through42 the entire land of Cush.43 2:14 The name of the third river is Tigris; it runs along the east side of Assyria.44 The fourth river is the Euphrates.
Of course, we may see that both texts give similar stories. In the Bible, you find human interpretations of limited understanding to something heard. However, in the Qur’an you find statements that fit to revelation from The Wise and All-Knowing God. This is stated by the following verses:
[27 / 6] As to thee, the Quran is bestowed upon thee from the presence of One Who is Wise and All-Knowing.
Another view of His Wisdom in creation is stated also in the following verses that describes the initial explosion of the initial material of the universe. Such bad term “Great Explosion” as nominated or assumed by the scientists is expressed by the creator in a better scientific term “Rupture”. Such term leads to who performs such rupture and expresses His Wisdom and Power.
[21/30 - 33] Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were stitched together (as the initial origin of the Creation), before We ruptured them asunder? Then, We made every living thing starting by water. Will they not then believe? And We have set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with them, and We have made therein broad highways (between mountains) for them to pass through: that they may receive guidance. And We have made the heavens as a canopy well guarded: yet do they turn away from the Signs which these things (point to)!
The wisdom in creation is expressed also in the following verses:
[ 2 /21 - 22] O ye people! Adore your Guardian-Lord, Who created you and those who came before you, that ye may have the chance to learn righteousness; Who has made the earth your couch, and the heavens your canopy; and sent down rain from the heavens; and brought forth therewith fruits for your sustenance; then set not up rivals unto Allah when ye know (the truth).
Another side of the Creator’s wisdom in the universe’s creation is given also in the following verses:
[23/17-20] And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (Our) Creation. And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease). With it We grow for you Gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment), Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food.
The God designed the sun and the moon to be sources of light before any creation had been started. This will is expressed in the following verses:
[10 / 3 - 5] Verily your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then He established Himself on the Throne (of authority), regulating and governing all things. No intercessor (can plead with Him) except after His leave (hath been obtained). This is Allah your Lord; Him therefore serve ye: will yet not receive admonition? To Him will be your return, of all of you. The promise of Allah is true and sure. It is He Who beginneth the process of Creation, and repeateth it, that He may reward with justice those who believe and work righteousness; but those who reject Him will have draughts of boiling fluids, and a Penalty grievous, because they did reject Him. It is He Who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty), and measured out stages for it; that ye might know the number of years and the count (of time). Nowise did Allah create this but in truth and righteousness. (Thus) doth He explain His Signs in detail, for those who understand.
The succession of day and night on the earth is described since more than 14 centuries in the following verses through miraculous expressions that are surely revealed from Allah: [39/4-6] He created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions and coordination), He makes the Night overlap spherically the Day (due to revolving the spherical earth), and the Day overlap spherically the Night: He has subjected the sun and the moon (to His law) each one follows a course of motion for an appointed time. Is not He the Exalted in Power, He Who forgives again and again? He created you (all) from a single Person: then created, of like nature, his mate; and He sent down (the design of genetic maps of) eight head of cattle in pairs for your service: He makes (creates) you, in the wombs of your mothers, in successive stages, one after another (according to a law), in three veils of darkness (three layers of protection). This is Allah, your Lord and Cherisher: to Him belongs (all) dominion. There is no god but He: then how are ye turned away (from your true Centre)?
The unity of Creation is expressed in the following verse:
[67 / 3] He Who created seven identical heavens (seven here indicates repeated creations of unlimited number of heavens as repeated cycles of the 7 days week), no want of proportion wilt (i.e. all are created as one unit with harmonic proportions) thou see in the Creation of the Most Gracious Allah. So turn thy vision again: seest thou any flaw?
God assures that He set the laws that keep the prevailing balance and equilibrium in the universe by His Wisdom:
[15 / 19-21] And the earth We have extended it (in volume and all dimensions); place in it the settlements (that gives it the mass and gravity that stabilize its motion and the creatures on its surface); and produced (create) therein all kinds of things in a due balance (physically and proportionally, i.e. plants in balance with animals, both are in balance to atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity, water in balance to needs, heat in balance to warm, etc.), And We have provided therein means of subsistence, for you and for those for whose sustenance ye are not responsible. And there is not a thing but its (sources and) treasures (inexhaustible) are with us; but We only send down thereof in due and ascertainable measures.
What is written here is just a part from unlimited number of verse which explains the wisdom of God as a Wise Creator for a magnificent universe. One of His Names Is stemmed from the word Magnificent ( the Magnificenator, i.e. the One who creates a magnificent universe)
However, several remarks may be seen regarding start of creation in the Bible:
1.Stating a God’s spirit moving over the surface of the water is illogic.
2.Considering God’s day limited by the sunrise and the sunset. In the Quran, God’s day cannot be defined by our limited days; the Quran states that God’s day may be as thousand years or fifty thousand years.
[32/5] He rules (all) affairs from the heavens to the earth: in the end will (all affairs) go up to Him, on a Day, its range may be (as) a thousand years of your reckoning
[70/4] The angels and the Spirit ascend unto Him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years:
3.Stating that God had no formal knowledge of what will be good and what will be bad. “He saw the light was good, God saw that was good”.
4.It states that the earth is plane; all the earth will be once in light, once in dark, one direction for the east and other direction for the west. The Quran stated the spherical overlapping of the day over the night and the night over the day, as stated previously.
5.It limits the universe creation to the earth only sources of light. So, it ignores the greatness of the whole universe.
For the reader: Can you imagine really the words of Genesis are from God and the words of the Quran are not?
I think We should actually approve the truth of the following Verse and We should say as the Muslim is accustomed to say: Sadaka (i.e. Veracity is in the Words of) Allah, The Great God.
[ 7 / 52] For We had certainly sent unto them a Book, based on science and knowledge, which We explained in detail, as a guide and a mercy to all who believe (in Him).

On thinking about Hormone and how each one functions performing aspecific task one might find oneself saying It is a wonderful and assorted world ;In fact , Hormones are among the many signs that lead to the belief in God . The act of Hormones maintains uncountable voluntary and involuntary actions InsideOur body .
Sometimes, one wonders how billions of body cells work and interact? How do they communicate?
you should know ,at this moment while reading this short essay , that there are billions of biological functions that take place in your body. Through these processes, each cell of your body takes the essential necessaries, and the function of a cell is defined, the body takes managements to supply cells with their necessaries by coordinating and organizing among different systems with striking speed and an amazing ability to defy and respond to any sudden changes.
The function of every cell is defined, along with what it needs to have its necessaries ,through an expeditious amazing co-ordination between the different organs in a way that keeps it safe against any unexpected sudden change .
Cells that form your body work within a complementary network and supply you with your the necessaries though you don't sense any of these activities . That takes place through a network between cells which is of very high performance. Proteins are one of the most important components which are considered to be the most essential substances inside cells
Hormone Definition
Hormones are chemical substances that act in very small quantities and circulate in blood continuously; they define growth rate, configuration, calmness, femininity and virility, strength and weakness, emotions and everything related to life . They also have a noticeable affect on body organs’ functions whether it is active or inactive . Hormones control personal behaviours, ethics, customs and how someone deals with others and with situations.
Each hormone is a chemical messenger of a determined function that is secreted into blood stream by the secreting gland to perform its role on target cell or target tissue, so hormones are proteins or peptide chains; these chains are one of protein formation phase
A figure shows the chemical structure of a hormone, it is of a complex structure.
a- Hormones are produced from definite parts of body called endocrine glands, that pour their secretion directly into blood stream to act as an important role in regulating the functions inside the body. Endocrine glands have no ducts, they have internal secretions ;unlike the body glands that consist of ducts , Hormones consist of specified cells that shed secretions into blood .
b- Hormones don’t act their role locally in the same area from which they were secreted (haven’t localized effect), but they are carried in blood to affect other parts of the body.
c- Hormones are substantial in coordinating and organizing body functions.
d- Hormones have a stimulatory and inhibitory effect.
e- Hormones can be classified according to their chemical structure into three types ; these are : protein hormones such as Insulin; Steroid hormones such as sexual hormones and Adrenal glands hormones; the third type is of Phenol derivatives such as Adrenalin that is released from the adrenal medulla.
Hormones are important as they act synergestically with the nervous system to regulate body functions. While the nervous system performs its role in regulating the body functions quickly (within a fraction of a second), endocrine glands act slowly, they might take several minutes, hours or even days.
Hormone Function Mechanism
There are three main ways for hormones to activate target tissues or organs :
1. Hormone might activate a gene. For instance, sexual hormones, which have the ability to enter into cell nucleus to bind to the nucleic acid (DNA).
2. Hormone might activate some enzyme Such as Adrenalin hormone that activates specific enzyme within the cell membrane, this enzyme brings about changes while hormone is still out of cell membrane.
3. Hormone might change cell membrane permeability (the ability to allow some substances to pass through or out of the cell membrane and preventing others from passing). Insulin and Growth Hormone (GH) are examples of those hormones. Insulin allows Glucose to enter the cell, while GH allows amino acids to enter cells for protein synthesis.
pituitary Gland is the most important gland to secrete hormones within human body
Why should we work with hormones carefully?
Firstly: it depends on the origin of hormones; hormones are very susceptible substances and are secreted in small amounts so the increase or decrease of these amounts leads to serious effect.
Secondly: there are many relations between hormones, for example; the increase of some hormones in the body causes decrease of others such as Insulin which is responsible for lowering sugar concentration in blood; there is a hormone that acts antagonistically with it and this raises blood sugar concentrations ; this is called called Glucagon, so the body maintains between its necessaries and those hormones concentrations in the blood; if a person takes unmeasured synthesized hormones, that will bring about disturbance in hormones concentrations set by God in the body.
Another example, there are hormones that integrate and cooperate with each other ; a unit of estrogen thickens the lining of the uterus by 1gm, and so does Progesterone , but if we take two units of Estrogen and Progesterone together, lining of uterus will thicken 8gms at once. What would happen if we increase one of the two hormones rate when body doesn’t need that increase? We think that uncalculated increase or decrease in hormones concentrations brings about disturbance in the previous cycle which goes with many hormones and leads to considerable troubles.
God glory to him says: {He, Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and Who did not take to Himself a son, and Who has no associate in the kingdom, and Who created everything, then ordained for it a measure} (Al-furqan: 2).
Also God glory to him says: {Surely We created man of the best stature}
(At-tin: 4).
The Last Word "
God , to whom all perfection and majesty are ascribed, created amazing postal net and system in which hormones molecules play the role of postman, as postman goes about city carrying letters to definite places, so do hormones when they carry orders coming from the brain to target cells. Whereupon all the essential biological processes within the human body are accomplished, yet we have to take into account that hormones are not conscious as human is ; they have no sensations; nor awareness to determine their directions, to identify what they carry and to whom they are going to carry it, they aren’t trained in this field for many years to have the aptitude to do that.
So hormones , which we liken to postman, are very complex molecules that can’t be explained fully without using complicated chemical symbols and equations.
On thinking about hormones and its mechanism , one should come o the coclusion that Harmones are wonderful miracles among the many miracles and blessings that God bestows on man . To know how great this is a miracle is just imagine
It is of an incredible work and wonderful miracle for hormone molecules to identify the messages they carry and to identify the cell that will receive messages, then to continue traveling through internal body dimness (that is milliards times bigger ) and never lose their way; and to act their role perfectly, this is just an examples of the miracles that God planted in the human body to know how greatly and harmoniously these organs act
It is a general invitation To Whom It May Concern to contemplate and think of creating and creatures God says in the Holy Quran what means : { Have they not considered the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and what things Allah hath created, and that it may be that their own term draweth nigh? In what fact after this will they believe? (7:185)
Glory to God who says: {We will soon show them Our signs in the Universe and in their own souls, until it will become quite clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things?} (Fussilat: 53).

The inner meaning of Hajj |
|
Prepared by : Magdy Abd AL-Shafy
In Islam , every pillar is imposed to purify Moslem's heart and to give strength to the Connection with God and to give a wider scope to the meaning of submission to God ; once you feel submission to God , you feel freedom from the heavy impact of life and materialism that put people to psychological torture . nothing else in life is equal being within the sphere of God's pleasure . Islam draws within itself all the sublime meanings of the true previous religions . Among the basic five pillar over which the towering meaning and core of Islam is built is Hajj . Here are some lofty verses with meaning about Hajj : God says in the Holy Quran what means " Announce the Hajj to mankind. They will come to you on foot and on every sort of lean animal, coming by every distant road so that they can be present at what will profit them (22:25-26)
As for those who honour Allah's sacred rites, that comes from the taqwa in their hearts. (22:30)
Their flesh and blood does not reach Allah but your taqwa does reach Him. (22:35)
Abu Hurayra said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'Whoever goes on hajj for the sake of Allah alone and does not have sexual intercourse or commit any outrage will return as he was on the day his mother bore him.'" (Bukhari)
Hajj is a symbolic journey to God , in which a Moslem leaves behind people whom he loves taking pains in this journey , yet they are sweet pains and what is the reward – it is to return with a body quite free from the filth of sins and a soul quite free from the darkness that used to enclave it – you are a newly born person .
"The Hajj is the demonstration of the reality that in Islam all roads lead to the House of Allah, where nationality, race, and difference of doctrine are all blown away. The hajjis come from everywhere, from every country, every continent and every background. They come flying, sailing and by land. But whoever they are, wherever they come from and however they come, they are drawn by only one thing and to only one point – their desire to worship Allah at His House and perform the rites of the Hajj.
"From the moment he sets out with the intention of performing Hajj, the hajji's journey is in one sense not his own – in that he is just one of millions of others doing exactly the same thing – and yet in another sense it is uniquely his own – since within that great gathering he will stand alone face to face with his Lord in the unfolding of his own unshared individual destiny. He becomes one of the many elements heading for the crucible of Makka where the great fusing of the Muslim community takes place, where all the parts are thrown together under the most intense conditions, mixed, melted together and then finally separated out again and returned to their homes never quite the same as when they left."
How much such a meaning is effective and lofty – to be within a group raising their hands in supplication to God , directing their movement and setting their heart on one goal , what ecstasy is then that fill the human hearts . with hearts filled with light and minds filled with new concepts and a self aspiring to complete its perfection , every Hajj returns home . No one remains unaltered
And it is precisely in this alteration that the profit spoken of by Allah ta'ala in one of the ayats I quoted at the beginning manifests itself and where the spiritual benefits of hajj can be clearly gauged. With some returning hajjis the change is only superficial; the gloss disappears quickly; and within a very short time they are exactly as they were before. Others, however, come back utterly transformed, their lives take on a new and more meaningful quality; they are those the Prophet, was referring to as new born; for them the hajj really has acted as a new beginning to their lives.
The difference between the two groups lies firstly in what we looked at earlier, the strength of their intention, and secondly in what Allah so clearly states in the other verse about hajj I quoted at the beginning, the need for piousness to make the actions performed on hajj truly meaningful. It is not sufficient just to participate passively in the rites of hajj, just to get swept along with the flow like a piece of flotsam; you have to bring something to them from within yourself and that "something" is piousness , fearful awareness of Allah. The rites are not magical, by which I mean that they have no automatically beneficial effect on those who perform them. Certainly there is great blessing in them stemming from the ancientness of their Divine prescription and billions of believers who have participated in them down through the centuries. But the benefit you personally will derive from them is directly proportional to the amount of piousness you bring to them.
Perhaps the most comprehensive statement ever made concerning this inward dimension of hajj was made by Junayd al-Baghdadi, the great 3rd century faqih and sufi.
A man came to visit Junayd and Junayd asked him where he had come from. He replied that he had just returned from hajj. Junayd said to him, "From the time you left your home did you also leave behind all wrong action?" "No," replied the man. "Then you never really left at all. At every stop you made on the way, did you also advance another stage on the path to Allah?" "No," came the reply. "Then you did not really make the journey. When you put on your ihram at the miqat, did you discard the attributes of selfhood as you took off your ordinary clothes?" "No." "Then you did not really take on ihram. When you did tawaf of the Ka'ba, did you witness the beauty of Allah in the abode of purification?" "No, I did not," said the man. "Then you did not really do tawaf. When you did sa'y between Safa and Marwa did you reach the rank of safa (purity) and muruwwa (virtue)?" "No." "Then you did not really do sa'y. When you went out to Mina did your muna (desires) cease?" No, they did not." "Then you never really went to Mina. When you stood on 'Arafa did you experience even a single moment of ma'rifa (direct knowledge) of Allah?" "No." "Then you did not really stand on 'Arafa. When you stayed the night at Muzdalifa did you renounce your love of this world?" No, I did not." "Then you did not really stay at Muzdalifa. When you stoned the Jamra, did you cast away from yourself everything that stands between you and your Lord." "No." "Then you did not really do the stoning. When you made your sacrifice, did you offer up your lower self to Allah?" "Then you did not really make a sacrifice and the truth is that you have not properly performed hajj at all. Return and do the hajj again in the manner I have described so that you may finally truly attain to the Maqam of Ibrahim."
Now obviously we cannot take this literally – I doubt that these days even one hajj a year would be acceptable according to Imam Junayd's stringent criteria – but what his words do indicate very clearly is that there is an essential inner dimension to the hajj. At the same time it is vital to point out that Imam Junayd's words do not involve any kind of inward/outward dichotomy, some kind of inward meaning to hajj separate from the outward form. They rather show that, like all our acts of worshipping , every outward act of the hajj has a corresponding and inseparable inner reality without which cannot be considered complete, just as an egg without its white and yolk is no longer properly speaking an egg but merely an eggshell. This is the element of ihsan which the Prophet, (peace be upon him ) , declared to be an integral part of our religion in the famous hadith related by 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, radiya'Llahu 'anhu. Ihsan, he said, was "to worship Allah as if you could see him, for though you cannot see Him, He sees you." The awareness of Allah (SWA) that this predicates is precisely the piousness which Allah demands from us in connection with the rites of hajj and without it our hajj will definitely be deficient and we cannot expect the great reward promised to those who truly go on hajj for the sake of Allah alone.
We have already discussed the necessary inward dimension to the act of going into ihram which takes the form of that intention on which the very validity of our hajj depends and which should be projected forward into all the rites we are expecting to fulfill so that the whole of our hajj will be imbued with it. After ihram Imam Junayd asks about tawaf, the act of circling Allah's House which is another of the essential components of our journey. When one enters the great wheel which night and day incessantly revolves around the Ka'ba, the central focus of all who truly worship Allah on the surface of the earth, it is all too easy to become distracted by the amazing sight it represents and the inevitable pushing and shoving which is the necessary accompaniment of so many people moving round in a limited space and which becomes particularly vigorous in the vicinity of the Black Stone. For this reason it is extremely important to keep a watch on your heart, and one way to do this is to choose a simple formula of dhikr and to repeat it continually, remembering to change it to the Qur'anic du'a recommended by the Prophet between the Yamani corner and the Black Stone. The circle of the tawaf is perhaps the place on hajj where one is most aware of being a citizen of the world. Every continent, race, and nation is represented and, extraordinarily, the specific characteristics of each is evident in the way they perform the rite.
On another level the act of tawaf can be seen as a reflection of our lives. If you look carefully at your life you will see that it is not so much an unbroken progression from beginning to end as a series of cycles which tend to bring you back and back again to the same point in a kind of repeating pattern. This pattern has its high point and low point, a little like a comet whose orbit comes close to the sun and then whizzes back off into deep space before returning once more to the light. This is mirrored in the tawaf by the passing of the Black Stone and the energy generated when that happens. What is to be desired both in our lives as a whole and in our tawaf is that our circling should not, as it were, remain always at the same level but should rather take the form of an upward spiral so that each time we pass the same point we have come that much closer to Allah than we were the previous time round. Our tawaf ends with two rak'ats at the Maqam of Ibrahim and this really is an exercise which has great meaning for our lives at large. Somehow, in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the haram, at the edge of, or even within the compass of, the endless wheeling of the tawaf crowd, we have to carve out a space for ourselves and locate a few moments of stillness and concentration in which we can stand and bow and prostrate and devote ourselves to the worship of our Lord.
One other definite spiritual benefit connected with the House of Allah has as much to do with people who are not there as those who are. The short length of wall between the door of the Ka'ba and the corner containing the Black Stone is known as al-Multazam. If you look at a picture of that side of the Ka'ba you will always see people spread-eagled against the wall at that point, almost as if they are trying to enter the House directly through the wall, and when you are there you will hear and feel the intensity of the supplication in that place and there is scarcely an eye that will not be flooded with tears. It is said that all du'a made there are answered and many people at some during their visit to the Masjid al-Haram try to take advantage of the opportunity it offers to ask Allah's help and blessing, not just for themselves but also for those they left behind. There are, of course, endless chances during the hajj in many of the holy places to make such du'as, and in this way something of the spiritual benefits of hajj reach many people who are not there to profit from the experience in person.
After tawaf comes sa'y which in a way always reminds me of the rush hour in one of the great cities of the world. An endless seething mass of people flooding ceaselessly backwards and forwards in a paradoxical integration of confusion and order. Sa'y is a re-enactment of the desperate search for water by Hajjar, the wife of Sayyidina Ibrahim, 'alayhi salam, when she and her young son 'Isma'il were placed by him in the Hands of Allah in the barren valley of Bakka. She ran backwards and forwards between the two rocks of Safa and Marwa, climbing first onto the one and then onto the other searching every horizon for that group of travellers who would save them from their plight. In the end, as we know, what they needed appeared literally under their feet with the emergence of the spring of Zamzam. How often we do the same thing in our own lives. We cast about here and there, desperately seeking help of one kind or another from this one or that one, usually forgetting that Allah ta'ala is very well aware of our circumstances, and then Allah's help arrives from right under our noses or sometimes even from within ourselves and the situation is resolved.
Like all the rites of hajj the act of sa'y is packed with wisdom and many different insights can be gained from its performance. Shaykh Abdalqadir as-Sufi has this to say about it in his seminal work The Way of Muhammad:
When the hajji begins his sa'y, he joins an already moving bank of people between the two rocks of Safa and Marwa, so that the stream of people between the two Waymarks is endless. As you fall into that sea of activity rushing from here to there and there to here, and the ocean of faces washes past you, some seen again and again, others seen once and for all, the rhythmic running from a place to a place takes on the impulse of activity that has governed all one's life of forgetfulness. All the struggle and fretfulness of existence, all the coming and going, becomes condensed into these seven terrible flights from A to B and from B to A. Seven times is enough for the life of one to be exposed to one's palpitating heart.
The next step on the hajj is the move to Mina. It is perhaps at Mina that the reality of the Umma of Islam is most clearly to be seen. People tend to be camped according to the geographical area of the world from which they come so that at Mina all the races and nations of Islam more or less preserve their ethnic and national distinctions and yet are all in close juxtaposition to one another within a very confined area. So for a few precious days communities normally separated by thousands of miles find themselves right next door to one another and in the benign atmosphere of hajj that brotherhood of Islam, which is so elusive in today's artificially divided world, finds genuine and heart-warming expression, as Muslims from every part of the globe meet and enjoy the pleasure of one another's company. What is also made apparent is how much was stolen from us by the break-up of the khilafa and how much we stand to gain from the political reunification of the umma once more under one khalifa.
The Prophet, salla'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said, "Hajj is 'Arafa," so it is evident that the great gathering of the hajji's on the plain of 'Arafa is the core rite of hajj. This is what everyone has come for. There is no doubt that in an almost explicit way it prefigures that Final Gathering which all of us will inevitably attend on the Last Day. It is there at 'Arafa that the reality of the state of ihram is made most manifest. The lives of all who are present are stripped down to the barest essentials. All distinctions are removed. Wealth and poverty, every kind of class distinction, all the things which normally set people apart from one another in their worldly lives, all these things are set aside and all that remains is the simple fact of our common humanity. All we have is our actions, what we have done with ourselves up to that point, what we have turned ourselves into by what we have done, nothing more and nothing less than what we truly are. It is a priceless opportunity to take stock. We stand there, as it were, naked in front of our Lord, with all the normal distractions and cushions taken away, face to face with Allah with nothing in between but the veil of our own existence.
There is nothing to do there but turn to Allah with complete sincerity and to call on Him making our din sincerely His, hoping for His forgiveness, longing for His mercy and yearning for the vision of His noble Face; and truly there is nowhere and no time on earth where our prayers are more likely to find acceptance. Jabir reported Allah's Messenger, salla'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam, as saying:
When the Day of 'Arafa comes, Allah descends to the lowest heaven and praises the people there to the angels, saying, "Look at My servants who have come to Me dishevelled, dusty and crying out from every deep valley. I call you to witness that I have forgiven them." Then the angels object, saying, "But my Lord this man has done such and such a thing and also that woman " Allah, Who is great and glorious replies, "I have forgiven them."
Shaykh Abdalqadir says about 'Arafa in The Way of Muhammad:
It is a rite that takes man back to his origin, for 'Arafa is the meeting point, the point of the reunion on earth of Adam and Hawwa, peace be upon them. It is the source point of the human situation. The meaning of the Hajj and its reality lies in this 'moment', this time at the source of life itself, and what the hajji does is stop. Stand on 'Arafa – it was for this that the journey was undertaken. Alone on a wide desert plain surrounded by a throng of others identical to yourself, bare-headed and draped in two white cloths – many there will be buried in these same cloths – you just come to a halt – quite simply, exhausted, dazed, you stop. At that moment there is absolutely nowhere to go. You are there. With Allah. The journey is accomplished. After that everything is purification and supplication.
The three rites of the eid at Mina are stoning the Jamrat al-'Aqaba, sacrificing an animal and shaving the head. All of them represent very specific actions and in one way the meaning of them is inextricably bound up with the actual doing of them and unfolds for every individual as they take place. But, of course, much has been written about them over the centuries and all of us inevitably reflect on their significance before and after actually performing them. Stoning the jamras is often referred to as stoning Shaytan. Allah warns us against Shaytan and informs us unequivocally that he is our enemy and perhaps one lesson we can learn is that even on this most blessed of days, the Eid al-Adha, we are not safe from Shaytan's insinuations and must protect ourselves from them. Shaykh ibn al-'Arabi al-Hatimi takes that one step further in his explanation of the rite. He says that at 'Arafa we purify our understanding of tawhid and rid ourselves of shirk and that in throwing the seven stones the next day we are casting out of ourselves certain Shaytan inspired thoughts that make us associate other things with Allah and that is why we call out the takbir as we throw – by declaring Allah to be greater we are disassociating Him from the tendency to commit shirk which Shaytan has tried to instil into our thinking process. So rather than throwing stones at Shaytan we are casting out from ourselves shaytanic thoughts.
As we saw in the ayat which referred to it, Allah tabaraka wa ta'ala is Himself concerned that we understand that the important element in the rite of sacrifice is that awareness of Him in us which must accompany the physical act and which alone imbues it with meaning. We should remember that it commemorates the occasion when Sayyidina Ibrahim, 'alayhi salam, was absolved from having to sacrifice his beloved son and given a ram to sacrifice in his stead. So what the rite indicates is our preparedness to give up what is most precious us for the sake of Allah. The thing more precious to us than anything else is our own selfhood, our own independent existence, and so, in its highest sense, the sacrifice represents our willingness to give up our own will and submit ourselves entirely to the will of our Lord and the truth is that by doing this we stand to lose nothing and to gain our heart's desire. Allah ta'ala says in Surat at-Tawba: "Allah has bought from the muminun their selves and their wealth in return for the Garden," and then at the end of the ayat: "Rejoice then in the bargain you have made. That is the great victory." (9:112)
The sheer physical relief of removing the accumulated dust and grime and dishevelment of our days in ihram in itself gives a more than adequate meaning to the act of shaving the head and the cleaning process which accompanies it. It really does give one a sense of starting life all over again. It is this very feeling which validates a slightly more symbolic interpretation of the rite which is, that in getting rid of your hair you are in a certain sense stripping away your past and that the new hair growth as it emerges truly is indicative of a new beginning to your life as a whole.
One aspect of the journey to the Hijaz we have so far not mentioned at all is the visit to Madina al-Munawwara. This is strongly recommended to the point of being considered a sunna of the hajj journey. Qadi 'Iyad said about it, "Visiting the tomb of the Prophet, salla'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is a sunna among the Muslims on which there is agreement. It is a virtue which is encouraged." If Makka is a crucible where the hajji is purged and purified, Madina is a pool of tranquillity where he finds peace and refreshment. Remember that it was in Madina that the social reality of Islam was first given form, where the justice and compassion of Allah's deen found their most perfect expression, that city about whose inhabitants Allah Himself said, "You are the best community ever to be produced before mankind." (3:110) What was latent and implicit during the long and difficult years in Makka, became realised and explicit in Madina and a community of human beings living according to the laws of Allah by following the example of His Messenger brought about the best human social situation ever to have existed on the surface of the earth. It is the resonance of this which emanates from the grave of the Prophet, salla'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam, and still pervades the city which welcomed him and made it possible for Islam to be implemented in its totality.
One does not have to go too far to discover the spiritual benefits of the visit to Madina. What blessing could be greater than being greeted by the Messenger of Allah himself, salla'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam, and as he himself said that is what happens to all who greet him in his grave. In the famous hadith from Abu Hurayra, radiya'Llahu 'anhu, related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud and al-Bayhaqi, he said, salla'Llahu 'alayhi wa sallam, "There is no one who greets me but that Allah will return my ruh to me so that I can return the greeting to him." And certainly there are very few hajjis who do not experience something of the sweetness of the Prophetic presence during their stay in Madina. So just as the hajj itself imbues one with a greater sense of the Divine presence and fosters love of Allah in the heart, the visit to Madina opens the heart to greater love for His Messenger and by extension to the whole Umma of Islam.
What I have hoped to do by talking of these things is, by drawing on my own experience and the experience of others with much greater knowledge and insight than myself, to indicate something of the inner dimension of the various rites of hajj. But in the end, although such indications may perhaps open a door or two to a deeper appreciation of the hajj, it is only your own tasting of the acts themselves which will really be of any use to you. It is only your direct experience of the rites of hajj which will actually constitute your hajj, and your hajj will inevitably be uniquely your own, totally different from everyone else's, even that of someone who may have been alongside you for most of the time you were there. This is because the hajj is as much an inward journey as an outward one and, as we have seen, it is that inward dimension, the unknowable amount of that outwardly indefinable but indispensable quality of taqwa which you bring to all the rites you perform, it is that and that alone on which the amount of benefit you receive from the hajj and its acceptability to Allah in the end depends.
The Prophet declared that one of the very best actions possible for a human is an accepted hajj and it is, therefore, devoutly to be hoped that all of those who go on it will bring to it the strong intention and the amount of taqwa they need to ensure that their hajj will find acceptance with their Lord. If they do they will find immediate evidence of it in their own being. They will find that their hearts have been filled with an unfading love for Allah and His Messenger and all the Muslims and they will find themselves determined to dedicate themselves from now on to the task of seeing the deen of Allah established to the fullest possible extent in their own lives and in the lives of their families and communities.
I will finish with the ayats with which Allah concludes the sura which He dedicated to the institution of hajj.
You who have iman, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord, and do good, so that hopefully you will be successful. Do jihad for Allah with the jihad due to Him. He has selected you and not placed any constraint on you in the deen – the religion of your forefather Ibrahim. He named you Muslims before and also in this, so that the Messenger could be witness against you and you could be witnesses against all mankind. So establish salat and pay zakat and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protector – the Best Protector, the Best Helper. (22:75-76)

the worldwide magazine (What is Islam)
No doubt , the Holy Quran is the pillar on which Prophet Mohummed's character is based on . The holy Quran shaped the characteristics of this Noble prophet . When his wife A'isha was asked by one of the Moslems about his morals , she said " He was a Quran walking on the earth " . Prophet Mohummed said " Allah has refined me in a way that is best and matchless " Allah says in the Holy Quran what means " And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character." ( AL-Kalum : 4)
Just like a pearl was this great prophet , radiating colourful lights in every direction . The personality of Muhummed, it is most difficult to get into the whole truth of it. Only a glimpse of it I can catch. What a dramatic succession of picturesque scenes. There is Muhummed, the Prophet, there is Muhummed, the General; Muhummed, the leader; Muhummed, the Warrior; Muhummed, the Businessman; Muhummed, the Preacher; Muhummed, the Philosopher; Muhummed, the Statesman; Muhummed, the Orator; Muhummed; the Reformer; Muhummed, the Refuge of Orphans; Muhummed, the Protector of slaves; Muhummed, the Emancipator of women; Muhummed, the Judge; Muhummed the Saint. And in all these magnificent roles, in all these departments of human activities, he is alike a hero. Still many more sides to be found out in this generous pious prophet .
His life was coloured with hardships , soaked in seas of sadness , he was born orphan , when the child went with his mother to the see the grave of his father , his mother died there . Orphanhood is the extreme of helplessness and his life upon this earth began with it. Leadership is the height of the material power and his life ended with it. From an orphan boy to a persecuted refugee and then to an overlord, spiritual as well as temporal, of a whole nation and Arbiter of its destinies, with all its trials and temptations, with all its vicissitudes and changes, its lights and shades, its up and downs, its terror and splendor, he has stood the fire of the world and came out unscathed to serve as a model in every face of life. His achievements are not limited to one aspect of life, but cover the whole field of human conditions.
Prof. K. S. Ramakrishna Rao, Head of the Department of Philosophy, Government College for Women, University of Mysore, says " Circumstances changed, but the prophet of God did not. In victory or in defeat, in power or in adversity, in affluence or in indigence, he was the same man, disclosed the same character. Like all the ways and laws of God, Prophets of God are unchangeable.
Never did his acts run counter to what he said , if you tried to find examples and incidents that prove his justice and mercy , you will need heavy burdens of volumes but we will just pick a few incidents . Jesus says " Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. ( Mathew : 15-17)
Think about what fruits that this great generous prophet gave to the world , think about his teachings that heavy volumes are loaded with , think about the number of his great early adherents that ,up till now , stun the world with their justice and mercy , they are the graduates of Mohummed's school –the school of Quran .
The prophet's justice and mercy towards nature
On reading Prophet Mohummed Hadiths regarding his justice and mercy towards animal life and environment one ,at once, finds himself oneself saying " He is the pioneer of establishing ecology ethics .
Francesca De Chatel, an anthropologist of Islamic culture and afreelance writer and journalist from theNetherlands, says " The idea of Muhammad as a pioneer of environmentalism will initially strike many as strange. Indeed, the term "environmentalist" and related concepts like "ecology," "environmental awareness," and "sustainability" are modern-day inventions, terms that were formulated in the face of the growing concerns about the contemporary state of the natural world around us. And yet a closer reading of the Hadith, the body of work that recounts significant events in Muhammad's life, reveals that he was a staunch advocate of environmental protection. One could say he was an "environmentalist before his time," a pioneer in the domain of conservation, sustainable development, and resource management, and one who constantly sought to maintain a harmonious balancebetween man and nature. Based pm accounts of his life and deeds, we can read that Muhammad had a profound respect for the fauna and flora, as well as an almost visceral connection to the four elements — earth, water, fire, and air. Muhammad was a strong proponent of the sustainable use and cultivation of land and water, proper treatment of animals, plants and birds, and the equal rights of users. "
prophet Mohummed attitude ,that is replete with justice , mercy and love stems from the following verse " Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: I will create a vicegerent on earth. They said: With thou place therein one who will make Mischief therein and shed blood?" ( Al-Bakra :30). His approach ,thus , is derived from the belief that all creatures belong to God, and not to man, and to assume that non-human animals and plants exist to benefit man leads to environmental destruction and misuse. If, as in Islamic belief, the component parts of nature are in continuous praise to God, human destruction of these parts prevents the earth's natural and subtle means for praising God.
God says in the Holy Quran what means " The seven heavens and the earth, and all beings therein, declare his glory: there is not a thing but celebrates his praise; and yet ye understand not how they declare his glory verily he is oft forbearing, most forgiving" ( Al-Israa : 44)
The Qu'ran acknowledges that humans are not the only creature to walk the earth. Muhammad was once asked whether there would be a reward for those who show charity to nature and animals. He replied, "for charity shown to each creature with a wet heart, there is a reward." He ordered us to feed animals and not to let then hungry . Once the Prophet passed by an emaciated camel due to hunger, he said: “Fear God in regards to these animals who can not speak their will. If you ride them, treat them accordingly (by making them strong and fit for that), and if you eat them, treat them accordingly (by making them fat and healthy).” (Abu Dawud) .
He ordered us not to torture animals.
The Prophet of Mercy passed by an animal branded on his face. He said, ‘Has it not reached you that I have cursed the one who brands an animal’s face or hits it on its face?’ The Prophet of Mercy advised his wife to treat an unruly camel that she was riding kindly. Making animals fight one another for entertainment was also forbidden by the Prophet.
When Ibn Umar, one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad saw some people practicing archery using a hen as a target, he said:
“The Prophet cursed anyone who made a living thing into a target (for practice).”
The Prophet Muhammad also said:
“‘Whoever kills a bird or anything else without its due right, God would ask him about it.’ It was said: ‘O Messenger of God! What is its due right?’ He said: ‘To kill it for food…and do not sever its head, and throw it!’” (Targheeb)
The Prophet (peace and Blessings upon him) said that he who is kind and merciful towards animals, Allah will be kind and merciful towards him.
Even when Killing an animal for food, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) informed us to sharpen the knife well before cutting the throat of the animal, and to kill it quickly, and in a manner least distressing to the animal. Also that we should never kill an animal for food in front of another animal, so as not to cause distress to the other animal.
Again, it is forbidden in Islam to kill an animal for mere play. Islam has forbidden wastage of animals and plants in peacetime and in war time.
In one of the travels of the prophet (peace and blessings upon him), one of his companions removed baby pigeons from a nest, the mother hovered over his head, seeing this he inquired from his companions if they knew who had taken her chicks, he (peace and blessings upon him) then returned the chicks to their nest in kindness and mercy to the pigeon.
Another tradition of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) is that whoever kills a bird for amusement, that bird will ask Allah to extract justice from the killer on the day of judgment, and will say My Lord, this person has killed me without good cause and for no benefit to anyone, so give me justice .
The Prophet Muhammad was sent by God as:“…a mercy to all beings.” (Quran 21:107)
He has shown us through his commandments and teachings, how to tend and care for these creatures. He said: “The merciful are shown mercy by the All-Merciful. Show mercy to those on earth, and He Who is in heaven will show mercy unto you.” (Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhi)
He commanded mankind to provide for the needs of any animals under their care, and he warned that a person who causes an animal to die of starvation or thirst is punished by God in the fire of hell.
Furthermore, he directed human beings to provide for needy animals in general, telling of a person whose sins God pardoned for the act of giving water to a dog in desperate thirst.
The Prophet Muhammad forbade that a fire be lit upon an anthill, and related that an ant once stung one of the prophets, who then ordered that the whole colony of ants be burned. God revealed to him in rebuke:
“Because an ant stung you, you have destroyed a whole nation that celebrates God’s glory.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari, Saheeh Muslim)
He forbade that one needlessly and wrongfully cut down any tree which provides valuable shelter to humans or animals in the desert, and the aim of this prohibition may be understood as prevention of the destruction of valuable habitat for God’ s creatures.
On the basis of the Prophetic commands and prohibitions, Muslim legal scholars have ruled that God’s creatures possess inviolability (hurmah) which pertains even in war. The Prophet of God forbade the killing of bees and any captured livestock, for killing them is a form of corruption included in what God has prohibited in His saying
“And when he turns away, he hastens through the land to cause corruption therein and to destroy the crops and cattle: And God loves not corruption.” (Quran 2:205)
Prophet Muhammad's Justice and Equality to human being
As to his justice to his foes before his companions
Sakhar, a chief of a tribe, had helped the Prophet (pbuh) greatly in the siege of Taaif, for which he (pbuh) was naturally obliged to him. Soon after, two charges were brought against Sakhar: one by Mugheerah (RA) of illegal confinement of his (Mugheerah's) aunt and the other by Banu Saalim of forcible occupation of his spring by Sakhar. In both cases, he (pbuh) decided against Sakhar and made him undo the wrong. [Abu Daawood]
Abdullaah Ibn Sahl (RA) was deputed to collect rent from Jews of Khaybar. His cousin Mahisah (RA) accompanied him but, on reaching Khaybar, they had separated. Abdullaah (RA) was waylaid and done to death. Mahisah (RA) reported this tragedy to the Prophet (pbuh) but as there were no eye-witnesses to identify the guilty, he (pbuh) did not say anything to the Jews and paid the blood-money out of the state revenues. [Al-Bukhaari]
A woman of the Makhzoom family with good connections was found guilty of theft. For the prestige of the Quraysh, some prominent people including Usaamah Ibn Zayd (RA) interceded to save her from punishment. The Prophet (pbuh) refused to condone the crime and expressed displeasure saying:
"Many a community ruined itself in the past as they only punished the poor and ignored the offences of the exalted. By Allaah, if Muhammad's (My) daughter Faatimah would have committed theft, her hand would have been severed." [Al-Bukhaari]
The Jews, in spite of their hostility to the Prophet (pbuh) were so impressed by his impartiality and sense of justice that they used to bring their cases to him (pbuh) and he decided them according to Jewish law. [Abu Daawood]
Once, while he (pbuh) was distributing the spoils of war, people flocked around him and one man almost fell upon him. He (pbuh) pushed the men with a stick causing a slight abrasion. He (pbuh) was so sorry about this that he (pbuh) told the man that he could have his revenge, but the man said: "O messenger of Allaah, I forgive you." (Abu Daawood)
In his fatal illness, the Prophet (pbuh) proclaimed in a concourse assembled at his house that if he (pbuh) owed anything to anyone the person concerned could claim it; if he (pbuh) had ever hurt anyone's person, honor or property, he (pbuh) could have his price while he was yet in this world. A hush fell on the crowd. One man came forward to claim a few Dirhams which were paid at once. [Ibn Hishaam]
Equality
Muhammad (pbuh) asked people to shun notions of racial, family or any other form of superiority based on mundane things and said that righteousness alone was the criterion of one's superiority over another. It has already been shown how he mixed with everyone on equal terms, how he (pbuh) ate with slaves, servants and the poorest on the same sheet (a practice that is still followed in Arabia), how he (pbuh) refused all privileges and worked like any ordinary laborer. Two instances may, however, be quoted here:
Once the Prophet (pbuh) visited Sa'd Ibn 'Ubaadah (RA). While returning, Sa'd sent his son Qays with him. The Prophet (pbuh) asked Qays to mount his camel with him. Qays hesitated out of respect but the Prophet (pbuh) insisted: "Either mount the camel or go back." Qays decided to go back. [Abu Daawood]
On another occasion he (pbuh) was traveling on his camel over hilly terrain with a companion, Uqbah Ibn 'Aamir (RA). After going some distance, he asked 'Uqbah (RA) to ride the camel, but Uqbah thought this would be showing disrespect to the Prophet (pbuh). But the Prophet (pbuh) insisted and he had to comply. The Prophet (pbuh) himself walked on foot as he did not want to put too much load on the animal. [An-Nasaa'ee]
The prisoners of war of Badr included Al-'Abbaas, the uncle of the Prophet (pbuh). Some people were prepared to forgo their shares and remit the Prophet's ransom but he declined saying that he could make no distinctions. [Al-Bukhaari]
During a halt on a journey, the companions apportioned work among themselves for preparing food. The Prophet (pbuh) took upon himself the task of collecting firewood. His companions (RA) pleaded that they would do it and that he (pbuh) need not take the trouble, but he (pbuh) replied: "It is true, but I do not like to attribute any distinction to myself. Allaah does not like the man who considers himself superior to his companions."[Az-Zarqaani]
In an age of barbarism, the Battlefield itself was humanized and strict instructions were issued not to cheat, not to break trust, not to mutilate, not to kill a child or woman or an old man, not to hew down date palm nor burn it, not to cut a fruit tree, not to molest any person engaged in worship. His own treatment with his bitterest enemies is the noblest example for his followers. At the conquest of Mecca , he stood at the zenith of his power. The city which had refused to listen to his mission, which had tortured him and his followers, which had driven him and his people into exile and which had unrelentingly persecuted and boycotted him even when he had taken refuge in a place more than 200 miles away, that city now lay at his feet. By the laws of war he could have justly avenged all the cruelties inflicted on him and his people. But what treatment did he accord to them? Mohammad's heart flowed with affection and he declared, "This day, there is no REPROOF against you and you are all free." "This day" he proclaimed, "I trample under my feet all distinctions between man and man, all hatred between man and man."
This was one of the chief objects why he permitted war in self defense, that is to unite human beings. And when once this object was achieved, even his worst enemies were pardoned. Even those who killed his beloved uncle, Hamzah, mangled his body, ripped it open, even chewed a piece of his liver.
Prof. Bevan writes in Cambridge Medieval History, "Those accounts of Mohammad and Islam which were published in Europe before the beginning of 19th century are now to be regarded as literary curiosities."
Historical records show that all the contemporaries of Mohammad both friends foes, acknowledged the sterling qualities, the spotless honesty, the noble virtues, the absolute sincerity and every trustworthiness of the apostle of Islam in all walks of life and in every sphere of human activity. Even the Jews and those who did not believe in his message, adopted him as the arbiter in their personal disputes by virtue of his perfect impartiality. Even those who did not believe in his message were forced to say "O Mohammad, we do not call you a liar, but we deny him who has given you a book and inspired you with a message."
Read the history of the early converts to Islam, and every heart would melt at the sight of the brutal treatment of innocent Muslim men and women.
And more wonderful still is what the reverend Bosworth Smith remarks, "Head of the state as well as the Church, he was Caesar and Pope in one; but, he was pope without the pope's claims, and Caesar without the legions of Caesar, without a standing army, without a bodyguard, without a palace, without a fixed revenue. If ever any man had the right to say that he ruled by a right divine it was Mohammad, for he had all the power without instruments and without its support. He cared not for dressing of power. The simplicity of his private life was in keeping with his public life."
A historian once said a great man should be judged by three tests:Was he found to be of true metal by his contemporaries? Was he great enough to raise above the standards of his age? Did he leave anything as permanent legacy to the world at large? This list may be further extended but all these three tests of greatness are eminently satisfied to the highest degree in case of prophet Mohammad.
The Encyclopedia Britannica says, "Muhummed is the most successful of all Prophets and religious personalities". But this success was not the result of mere accident. It was not a windfall. It was recognition of the fact that he was found to be of true mettle by his contemporaries. It was the result of his admirable and all-compelling personality.

Translation revised by Magdy Abd Al-Shafy
Islam is a religion that sees God behind every thing, He is the Creator who creates, sustains and guides every thing in the universe including all the creatures and creations. His Will and Mercy are seen in every thing in His Universe. His power is supreme, when He wants any thing to be done, it is done. He masters the running events and the future events. The name of the God in Islam is Allah. This may stand in Arabic for two words Al ( the ) Ilah ( God ), which when combined and canceling the letter I from the second word, became Allah ( the God ). This name is divine and have been called by all prophets since Adam until Mohammed. This name is close to the Hebrew name of the Creator “ Eloha” called by Moses, but the Jews has wrongly pronounced it in a plural form “ Elohim” which indicates existence of more than one god. The Islamic name of God “ Allah” is close to the Aromatic name of God used by Jesus “ Aloha”. So, Allah is the name of the God in the three monotheistic religions.
The unique usage of Allah as a propper name of God is a reflection of Islam’s emphasis on the purity of the belief in God which is the essence of the message of all God’s messengers. So, Islam considers associating any deity or personality with God as a deadly sin which God will never forgive, despite the fact that He may forgive any other sin.
So, Islam rejects characterizing God in any human form or depicting Him as favoring certain individuals or nations on the basis of wealth, power or race. He created the human beings as equals. They may distinguish themselves and get His favor through virtue and piety only.
The illogic statements attached to God is sinned in Islam. The concept that God rested on the seventh day of creation, that God wrestled with one of His soldiers, that God is an envious plotter against mankind, or that God is an incarnate in any human being are considered blasphemy from the Islamic point of view.
The religion of Islam stresses the obligation on the Muslim, through the verses of Koran, to think, learn, and search so that he can worship God with complete conceive and love. The scientific thinking is the only way in the Koran to Know Allah. Thinking and searching to see God’s Will and Mercy in ourselves and in the universe is a part of the Muslim’s personality. We can read the following verses to see how the Koran proves logically and mentally the existence of one God, Allah, the truth of Mohammed and the Koran :
Or do they say : “ He ( Mohammed ) has forged this book ( the Koran ). Nay, they aren’t believers. Let them then produce a recital like this book ( the Koran ) if they are truthful. Or ( as unbelievers of Allah and His Message and Messengers ) were they created by no-one ?, or were they themselves the creators ? Or did they create the heavens and the earth ?. Or have they the whole treasures of Your Lord ? or have they the authority to control it ( such treasures ) ?. Or have they a stairway ( to heavens ) by means of which they can listen ( to the inspiration of God ) , then let their listener bring some manifest proof. Or have He only ( the God ) have daughters ( God-daughter as were claimed ) and you have sons? Or is it that You ( O’ Mohammed ) asked them a wage ( to follow You), so they are burdened from the load of debt.? Or do they know el-Gheib ( the future or the unseen ) so they depict it down (as trusting the future ). Or do they seek to ensnare you ?, but those who disbelieve ( in Oneness of Allah) they are ensnared ( by Allah). Or have they an ilah ( a god ) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from they ascribe as His partners.( 52/ 34 - 43 ).
God called Himself in the Koran, as inspired to His Prophet, with 99 attributes called “ the Highest attributes ”, or El- Asmaa El-Hosna. Each name is indicating a quality for Allah. The Koran mentions the evidence for God’s Properties in the universe or in ourselves. This is done through mental reasoning and proofs when thinking in the universe and deeply surveying the facts in our creation. The Holy Koran stems the conclusions that assures the existence of one true Holy God, who is the “Creator”, the “Merciful”, the “Compassionate”, the “Wise”, the “Supreme”, the “Almighty”, the “Beginner”, the “Repeater”, the “Owner”, the “Compeller”, the “Knower” of all seen and unseen, and to Him belongs every thing.
We can look to the logical approach of proofs that the Koran had followed to prove the oneness of God, and not to accept any thing without proof.
Or have they taken for worship other Gods besides Allah ? Say ( O Mohammed to them ) “ Bring your evidence ( or proofs and guides from those Gods ). These are Allah’s guides as sent to me ( the Koran ) and sent to prophets before me ( as Torah and Bible)”. But most of those ( pagans ) know not the truth and they are adverse ( haven’t any guide or proof r elated to their reclaimed Gods). ( 21 -24 ).
Say ( O Mohammed to These polytheists, pagans, etc. ) “ if there had been other Gods along with Him ( with Allah ) as they assert, then they ( these Gods ) would certainly have tried to find a way to the throne ( through fighting the God of the universe )” , Glorified and High be He ! from ( the great falsehood ) that they say. ( 17 - 42 ).
Had there been therein ( in the heavens and the earth ) gods besides Allah, then verily both would have been ruined. Glorified be Allah, the Lord of the Throne ( High He is ) above all what they attribute to Him ! ( 21 - 22 ).
God is the Creator of such unique universe, eternal and everlasting. Can be there more than one creator and other God’s Attributes? Can there be for example two absolutely powerful creators? The Koran summarizes this argument in the f following verse:
God has not taken to Him any son, nor is there any god with Him: for then each god would have taken off that which he created and some of them would have risen up over others. Glorified be Allah ( the only God ) above all that they attribute to Him. ( 23/91)
Other approaches for proving the Oneness of Allah is done through scientific looking at the universe, these are read in the following verses:
Allah Who created an indefinite number of identical heavens . You can see the uniqueness ( the evidence of having the same fashion )of the whole creation of Allah, the Merciful. Or you can look again ( at any other creation ), Can you see any nonidentity in the creation ( or non-uniqueness of the creation that may lead to non-uniqueness of the creator ) ( 67 - 3 )
This is the creation of Allah. So, show me that which those ( Whom you claim as gods ) besides Him have created ( another fashion of creation or different creations ). Nay, those unfair people ( polyththeists or who do not believe in the Oneness of Allah ) are in plain error. ( 31 - 11 )
Or do they assign to Allah partners who created some thing similar to His creation such that they witnessed the difference between both creations. Say ( O Mohammed ) “ There is only one Irresistible God, Allah, who creates every thing”. ( 13 - 16 )
In this way, we believe that there are no partners nor colleagues to Allah. But only one God, who creates such homogenous and unique creation. All animals, plants and humans have the same structure of cells, performs the same living processes as breathing, eating, growing, all breath the same Oxygen and expired the same Carbon dioxide and water vapor. All animals have two eyes (some insects may have more ) , one nose, a mouth, a head, hands and legs, a digestive system, a circulatory blood system, a urinary system, a productive system, and other similar systems. The cell of all animals or plants are similar but the number of chromosomes in every cell initially defines the type of animal. The plants, animals, water, air and earth form one complete system in which each has its role of functioning. Who unifies this design and complete this closed system ( animal feeds on plants and benefit by the Oxygen that they emit ). why is it unique ? The scientific answer came from the Creator in His Last Holy Book sent to His Last Prophet Mohammed in the previous verses and many other verses of the Koran, It is created so to lead us to His Oneness, His superiority, and His Mercy.
When the prophet Mohammed was asked in the beginning of his mission by his contemporaries about Allah, the answer came from God Himself in the form of a short chapter ( or Surah) in Koran. This Surah, number 112, is considered as the essence of unity and reads:
In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Say ( O Mohammed ) He is Allah, ( the ) One God, Allah is As-samad ( He is the God to whom rise the needs of all creatures but He is self-Sufficient ), He begets not nor He was begotten, And there is none coequal or comparable to Him. ( 112)
Similar description is given in many other verse, we can mention the following:
This is Allah, My Lord, in Whom I put my trust, and to Him I turn in penitence. The Originator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you mates from yourself ( As Eve was created from a Chest-bone of Adam and take the human form ) and for the cattle ( or animals in general ) also ( He has made ) mates, multiplying you therein ( from male and female ). There is nothing like Him, and He is All-hearing and All-Seeing. To Him belongs the ruling (or mastering the rules that control ) of the heavens and the earth. He extends and straitens His Provision to whoever He pleases ( according to his deeds ). Verily! He is the All-Knower of every thing. ( 42 / 10 - 12 )
Some non-Muslims allege that God in Islam is a stern and cruel God ,who punishes people if they disobey him. He is not loving people or kind to them. Nothing can be far from truth than this allegation. It is enough to mention that each of the 114 chapters of Koran begins with the verse “ In the name of Allah, the Merciful and the Compassionate”. In one of the sayings of the prophet Mohamed, He told “ God is more kind to the Man than a mother to her child”
However, God’s attribute of Mercy has full manifestation in His attribute of Justice, because one of His Names is the Just. So, people who sacrifices their life in doing the right things which brings the happiness to the mankind will receive a nice treatment from their Lord in the present or eternal life, but who hurts and spoils the life of the mankind should receive opposite treatment. In the Koran we can read these God‘s words “ Shall I treat the people of Faith ( who obeys His orders ) like the people of Sin ( who are disobeying Him ) ? How do you judge ?” ( 68 / 35 )
The Muslim believes that all the people, starting from Adam worshipped only one God, Allah. But as the time passed, some people claimed that the idols are blessed by God and starts to worship it. So God sent Noah and other prophets after Noah to guide the people to worship only one God and to teach them to how to follow His Path. So all those who follow the Divine messages sent by Allah will deserve the Mercy of Allah, and who would not follow, they will receive a punishment according to their divergence from the obedience. Punishment may be only in the eternal life, and being far from God on the earth is a sufficient punishment for those who are leaving the straight path.
Islam rejects characterizing God in any human form or depicting Him as favoring certain individuals or nations on the basis of race or power. He created all the human beings as equals. A man can distinguish himself and get the favor of the God through virtue and piety only, this can be seen in the verses of the Koran:
Verily the most honorable of you in the view of Allah, is that ( believer ) who has more taqua ( Fearing God and sticking to His Way , performing all kinds of good deeds He has ordained and obtain from all kinds of sins He has forbidden ) ( 49 - 13 )
The concept that God rested in the seventh day of creation, that God wrestled with one of His soldiers or prophets, that God is an envious plotter against mankind or that God is an incarnate in any human being are considered blasphemy from the Islamic point of view. God in Islam as defined by His Words of the Koran is Supreme and is Higher than these silly descriptions. We can read many verses in the Koran that expresses His Almighty:
Allah ! La Ilah Ella Huwa (None has the right to be worshipped but He), He is the Ever Living, the God Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtake Him. To Him belongs whatever in the Heavens and whatever on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission ? He knows and views what happened to them ( to His creatures ) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. But they will never compass any of His Knowledge except that which He allowed. His ( Korsi ) throne extends over the earth. His care to sustain the whole universe needs no effort of Him ( 2-255)
He is Allah, La ilah illa Huwa ( None has the right to be worshipped but He ) , He is Alem ( Knower and Designer with His Science and Logic )of what is going and seen now and what is coming and hidden, He is Al-Rahman (Who gives His Mercy to the whole creation ) and Al-Rahim ( Who gives the Mercy to all creatures ). He is Allah, La ilah illa Huwa, He is the Malek ( the Owner of every thing in the world )
The unique usage of the name Allah as a personal name of God is a reflection of Islam’s emphasis on the purity of the belief in God which is the essence of the message of all God’s messengers. Because of this, Islam considers associating any deity or personality with God as a deadly sin.
The creator must be different from these things He created because if He has the same nature, He will be temporal and will therefore need a maker. It follows that nothing is like Him as He stated in the Koran:
There is nothing like unto Him ( 42-11)
He is beyond our capability to view or to imagine:
No vision ( or imagination ) can grasp Him, but His Grasp is over all vision. He is the most Subtle and Cuteous, Well acquainted with all things. ( 6 - 103 )
The Creator is eternal and everlasting. Then His attributes must also be eternal and everlasting. He should not lose any of His attributes nor acquire new ones. If this is so, then His attributes should be absolute. Can there be more than one God who have such absolute attributes.? The Koran summarizes this argument and gives the proof:
God has not taken to Himself a son., nor a God- Companion with Him. For then, each god ( or Son) would have taken away what he had created, and some would have tried to overcome the others. ( 23 _91 )
Here we find a pure logic also to prove the impossibility of existence of more than one God offered from Allah.
God is the creator of everything. He is the Guardian over everything. Unto Him belongs the ownership of the heavens and the earth. Any creature is there on the earth has its provision in the Hands of Allah. He is Allah; there is no God but He. He is the All- Knower of the unseen and the seen. he is the most beneficent and most merciful. He is Allah than Whom there isn’t ( La Ilah Ella Huwa ; none has the right to be worshipped but He ) the King,, the Holy, the Peace, the Giver of security ( to His creation) The Watcher ( or Governing His Creatures ), the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah ! ( High is He ) above all that they regard as gods with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Designer, the Bestower ( Who gives the creations its form and shapes ), to Him belongs the Best Names. All what exist in the heavens earth ( i.e. every thing ) glorify Him as the All-Mighty and Wise. ( 59 / 22 - 24 )
He is the First ( nothing is before Him ) and the Last ( nothing is after Him ), the Most High and Seen ( nothing is Higher than Him and He is seen in every thing ) , the Most Near or Involving ( Nothing is nearer than Him and He is involved in every thing ) and He is the All-Knower of every thing.( 57 - 3 )
The universe had been started since billions of years and it will be vanished. God started the creation of the universe. So, He will be able to restart it once more after its vanishing. In these meaning we can read many verses of the Koran. We write here these only:
Haven’t those who disbelieves seen that the heavens and the earth were a pile ( in the start of creation) and then We ( Allah ) fragmented them ( to form the heavens and the earth at the moment called by scientist as the great explosion )? and starting from water We ( Allah ) have created all the living creatures. ( 21 / 31 )
And ( remember ) the Day ( of resurrection ) when we shall roll up the heavens in one unit as rolling up the pages of a book, as We ( Allah ) begin the first creation ( from one pile ),We shall return it back ( as it was in the start ), Truly We ( Allah ) shall do that as My Promise. ( 21 / 105 )
In this Way, Allah shows us many scientific facts that we lately have found. science has seen the righteous of these statement, that initially all the heavens and the earth were in one pile. But the Koran expresses these facts in Divine words which can’t be written by human hands.
The start of creation of the man was from mud as all the creatures on the earth, which is proven scientifically. The elements form in the man’s body are the same as the earth’ s elements + water. However, the man is distinguished with an ability to learn and to know what His Creator planned to him to know. Such capabilities have authorized him to be responsible for the management of his life and the lives of his associates. The Creator calls him as His Deputy, or caliph, on the earth. With such honor, man deserves the freedom to choose between alternatives and to decide where to go. or what to do. But according to his choice, he may find his Divine decree. The distinguished man, by his abilities to recognize or identify the Glory of His Creator has certain duties on the earth besides eating, drinking and loving. Worshipping through obeying his creator and learning to emphasizes the wisdom of the creator are also required. Developing the norms of life and simplifying the lives of the others are required. However, here are some verses of the Koran which give these statements:
By ( as a swore ) the Sun and its sacrificing ( By emission of its mass in the form of radiation to lighten our earth ) , and by the moon as it follows the sun ( in time and in receiving its light ), and by the day ( the period of sun-light on the earth ) as it shows the its ( sun’s ) brightness, and by the night (darkness of the universe ) as it conceals it ( the sun ), and by the sky and He Who Constructed it, and by the earth and He Who is milling ( revolving ) it, and by the Nafs ( Personality and Soul or mentality of mankind ) and He Who settle its balance, and then He showed it ( this Nafs) the way of wickedness ( the obedience of bad desires ) and the way of taqua ( piety) .
The devil or evil is a fact too. But the Koran shows that the devil is not more than a creation of the God who was created before the creation of Adam, the first man in the Human race. When God created Adam with certain distinguishing capabilities, He ordered the Angels and the Devil to respect His Coming Creature “ Adam”. As the coming creation was an earthy creature, as the Koran tells he is from “ Mud”, the Angels and Devil asked God if this creation will be like the other earthy creations which are fighting all the time and killing each other. God shows the angels that Adam is distinguished by His ability to learn, think, and decide. So, the Angels addresses the God for forgiveness. However, the devil asked God an opportunity to prove that God’ s new Creation is not deserving Devil’s respect. So, God’s word dammed the Devil for his delusion and promises those people who will disobey Him the same damn as the Devil. So, the way of the Devil is to pursue the mankind and lead them to His way of Delusion, and this will be his proof that mankind is not deserving any respect. The first successful trial of the Devil was with Adam in the Paradise ( the first place of Adam ), where the Devil pursued him to disobey the God s’ first order that Adam received from God.
These arguments are mentioned in the Koran in many situations, each with different approach according to the chapter of the Koran. However, we can mention the following verses from one chapter of the Koran, but the true Muslim knows the whole number of verses that give this meaning in all chapters of Koran:
And ( remember ) when your Lord said to the Angels “ Verily, I am going to place ( mankind ) a viceroy ( a caliph to worship Him and manage the life ) on the earth”. They ( the Angels ) said “ Will You place therein those who will make mischief and shed blood ( as the other earthy creatures ) - while we ( a comparison to deserve God’s preference ) glorify you with praises and thanks and sanctify You. He “Allah” said “ I know ( about His Creation ) that which you do not know. And He taught Adam the names of everything ( acknowledge him with every thing in the universe that the Angels can’t know according to God’s Will ) then He showed them ( those things ) to the Angels and said to them “ Tell me their names if you are truthful”.
They ( the Angles ) said “ Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except what You have taught ( and allow ) us. Verily, He is You the All-Knower-the All Wise”.
He said “ O Adam! Inform them the names ( you have been taught )”. When he ( Adam ) had informed them of their names, He said “ Didn’t I till you that I Know the Ghaib ( the unseen or unknown to any one but Him ) in the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you have been concealing?”
And ( remember ) when we said to the Angels “ Prostrate yourselves before Adam ( as respecting a distinguished God’s Creation) . And they prostrated except Iblis ( the Devil ), he refused as a proud creation, so he was Kafir ( disobedient to Allah )
Then we said “ O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise, and you can eat freely and delightfully wherever, but not to approach this tree or you will be considered of the Zalimin ( disobedient and unfair ) 2 : ( 30 - 35 )
In the seventh Surah ( chapter ) of the Koran, the God explains similar arguments and shows how the Devil can persuade the mankind to lead them off the straight bath. His Guide and the misguide of the devil to Adam and to the people of Noah, Saleh, Lot, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and other prophets are found in many chapters of the Koran. So one can read the verses ( 11 - 27 ) which tell a similar wisdom of Adam’s creation. However, we write here the verses 20 - 22 to show some of Devil’s approaches:
And surely, We created you ( starting from clay ), then We shaped you ( the noble shape of the human being, as an end of a clay - series of creation ), and then We said to the angels “Prostrate to Adam ( As respecting God’s Creativity )”, and they portrayed except Iblis, he did not join those who portrayed. He ( Allah ) said “ What prevented you ( O’ Iblis ) from prostrating your self when I commanded you?” , Then he ( Iblis ) said “ I am better than him, You created me from fire and You created him ( Adam) from clay ( thinking in delusion that fire is better than clay).
He ( Allah ) said “ ( O’ Iblis) Get down from here, it is not allowed for you to be arrogant here. So, go out. You are from the abject ( disgraced ) ones. Then he ( Iblis ) said “ Allow me respite till the Day they will be raised from the dead ( The Day of Resurrection ). He ( Allah ) said “ You are of those who are allowed respite.” Then he ( Iblis) said “ Because You have sent me astray, surely I will sit in wait for them ( to give them out of ) Your Straight Path. Then I will come to them ( to Adam and his race ) from before them and from behind them, from their right and from their left, So You will not find most of them thankful to You ( i.e. they will not be dutiful to You). He ( Allah )said to him ( to Iblis )” Get out from here ( from Paradise ) disgraced and expelled. Whoever of them ( of the mankind ) will follow you ( with you delusion), they will be in the hell with you.
Then Satan ( or Iblis ) whispered to them ( to Adam and Eve ) and said :” Your Lord forbid you, not to approach this tree, so that you will not become angels or of the immortals. Satan was aiming to mislead them and to uncover their private hidden parts of their bodies ( when they will eat from this forbidden tree ). And he ( Satan ) swore , saying to them “ Truly, I am for you a sincere advisor.” Thus, he led them to a bad end by his delusion, as the private parts of their bodies was appeared to them when they tasted of the tree. Then they tried to cover themselves by the leaves from the Garden. Their Lord called out them saying “ Did I not forbid you from that tree, and said to you that Satan is your awored enemy.” ( 7: 20 - 23 )
In the Koran, Satan is a symbol or a father to a tribe or a race similar to that of Adam. This race is called “ Jinn”. Their nature is not completely unknown to us since their creator, Allah, acknowledged us in His Book about them. Their creation starts from fire, as Adam’s creation starts from clay. Such statements was mentioned in the previous verses, and as many verses in the Koran state many other properties for the Jinn. They can see us but we can’t see them, there are Muslim and non-Muslim Jinn and they have no influence on the faithful people. The existence of such creations is a fact that we see many of their effects. Their world and the world of Angels are called in Koran Ghieb. Any Muslim should believe in this unseen worlds since they are mentioned in Koran.
The Angels are also creatures of the God. They are doing exactly what they are obliged to do. They have special nature and we are not allowed to assume any shape or nature for them, such as telling that they are female or asking them the help. God only gives the help.
In Koran we can read theses verses :
And to God prostrate all that which are in the heavens, every creature that is moving on the earth, and the angels. For none are arrogant ( before their Lord ). They all revere their Lord, high above them, and do all that they are commanded. ( 16 / 49-50 )
The seven heavens ( whatsoever in them praise His Glory; seven means the multiplicity ) and the earth, and nothing exists that does not glorify His Praise, butnot understand their Praising. Surely ( mankind ) do He is All-Forbearing, All-Forgiving. ( 17 / 44 ).
follows God’s guide have easier life than those We need God’s Guide and Help to bear life. Of course, those who who doesn’t.
Is he who walks ( or lives ) prone on his face, more likely guided, or he who ( sees and ) walks on a Straight Way ( i.e. God’s Guide or the Right Path of those who are submitted to the Will of God ) ( 67 / 22 )
Similarly, God promises those who follows His Guide with kind life on the earth as well as Kind life in Paradise.
Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he ( or she ) is a true believer ( of Islamic Monotheism ), verily, to him We will give him a good life in this world ( i.e. with respect, contentment and lawful provision ) and We shall pay them certainly a reward in Paradise proportional to the best of what they used to do. ( 16 / 97 )
The proof of that promise is found in Koran:
Shall we then treat those who have submitted to the will of God ( Muslims ) as the sinners ? What is wrong with you, or on what base do you judge ?
Another proof is the contempt that a Muslim feels if he really believe in God. The Koran states that in the following verses:
Those who believes in God, their hearts find serenity in the remembrance of God. Indeed, in the remembrance of God, the hearts ( of believers ) find serenity. ( 13 / 28 )
Verily, those who say: “ Our Lord is ( only ) Allah,” and thereafter Istaqamo* , they shall neither fear nor grieve. ( 46/13 )
Verily, those who say our Lord is Allah, and then they Istaqamo * , on them the angels will descend ( at the time of their death or make them feel that ) ( saying to them ) : Fear not nor grieve! But rejoice in the glad tidings of Paradise that you are promised. ( 41/30 )
The reason of the smooth life of the Muslim is that he is not worrying too much for any thing in the world-life, because of his feeling that God is near to him. His aim is not limited to world-life ( or the down-life ) but his original aim is the Paradise life. He is ordered to do that:
But seek , in that ( resources of power or wealth ) which Allah has bestowed to you, the home of the Hereafter( the Paradise), and forget not your legal portion of enjoyment in this world ( as defined by Koran ), and do good as Allah has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allah like not the Mofsidin*. ( 28/77 )
The true Muslim is doing his best to learn and to have the scientific understanding of all what is running, as he is ordered in Koran to ask God not for more money nor for power, but for more knowledge or science:
The High above all be Allah, the True King. And not be in haste ( O’ Mohammad ) with the Koran before its revelation is completed to you, and say: “ My Lord! Give me your gift as more knowledge ( or increase my scientific understanding). “
He is trying to have the power, the money, and the good position, not as a Goal, but as a means to be a strong Muslim and to serve God by this means. Having all the reasons or means for a marvelous life in the world-life is not a measure of God’s love, but this means is the tools for testing the truth of the man’s belief.
As for mankind, whenever His Lord tries him and honors him ( by power, money, family or position ) he says “ My Lord has honored me”. But whenever He tries him by straitening his means ( lack of wealth or power ), he says: “ My Lord has humiliated me.” No Indeed ( i.e. their statements are not correct, but both cases are just tools for trying the mankind ) ( 89/15-16 ).
Man is composed of a body, a Nafs** , and a Ruh *** .To know the meaning Nafs or the oneself, the Koran describes it to be responsible for directing man to a good or bad behavior. We can read in the following verses from a Surah called the sun, where the God is asking us to think deeply by :
By the sun and its sacrifice ( or glowing the world during its decay ) , and by the moon that follows it ( follows the sun in forming or creation and in reflecting sun’s light to us ), and by day as it shows up the sun’s brightness ( where the earth reflects the sun’s light to our eyes ), and by the night as it conceals it ( i.e. the darkness that conceals all the universe and the sun also), and by the heavens and Him who builds it, and by the earth and Him who mills it ( or revolves it as a rolling egg ). And by the Nafs* and Him who perfected her in balance, then He inspired it ( the Nafs ) to know what is right to her ( Taqua* and what is wrong to her ( Fogour** ). Indeed, he succeed who purifies his ownself or his Nafs ( i.e. obeys and performs all Allah orders and doing the righteous good deeds ), and Indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself ( i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered and doing every kind of evil or wicked deeds ). ( 91/ 1-10)
To know the meaning of the Ruh or soul, the Koran describes sleeping as death, as in both the soul leaves the body and both are separate two stages, but with minor differences as the Koran states :
God takes the souls at the time of their death, and others ( souls ), that haven’t died yet, during their sleep. He withholds those for whom He has decreed death, and sends back the others until an appointed term. Surely in that are signs for a people who think deeply. ( 39 / 42 ).
But to go deeper in understanding the Ruh is to be led to a confusion as this is a secret of Allah:
And they ask you ( O’ Mohammad)concerning the Ruh (the soul or spirit ); Say : “ The Ruh is the concern of my Lord, and the knowledge made available to you is very little.( ( 17/85)
So, our life on the earth is a stage like sleeping and followed by other stages in the tomb and then either in Paradise or in Hell. Otherwise we will be like animals, to live for giving birth to new ones and die. Such statements have also many proofs in the Koran:
Blessed be He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things. Who has created ( man’s ) death and life so that He may test which of you is best in deeds ( have deeds done totally for Allah ), and He ( Allah )is the Almighty and the All-Forgiving. ( 67 / 1,2).
So, we have for us a fixed date in which all our deeds will be evaluated.
And We have fastened every man’s deeds to his neck, and on the day of Resurrection, We shall bring out for him a book which he will find wide open. ( It will be said to him ): “ Read your book. You yourself are sufficient to evaluate your deeds in this Day “( 17 / 13, 14 )
So our life has an objective and is a testing stage for other stages. The logic of this statement is also proved in Koran:
Did you think that We had created you in Jest ( without any objective ) and that you would not be brought back to Us. ( 23/115 )
And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for merely play( but in a planned and ordered or organized form that should have an objective ). We created them not except with truth, but most of them do not know ( do not know the objective of their world life-or the down life ).( 44 / 38,39 )
The proof of God’s ability to recreate us in the Day of resurrection is also proved in Koran.
Is not He, Who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the like of them ( i.e. to recreate us in the day of resurrection ) ? Yes, Indeed ! He is the All-Knowing Supreme Creator.
Verily, His Command when He intends a thing, is only that He says that it will be, and it is done. ( 36 / 81, 82 ).
The examples also for the God’s ability to do that is seen in life or in history as mentioned in the Koran.
Then look at the signs of Allah’s Mercy, how He revives the earth after its death ( by plants ). Verily! That ( Allah ), Who revived the earth after its death, shall indeed raise the dead people ( on the Day of Resurrection ) and He is Able to do all things. ( 30/50)
And He is Allah Who sends the wind to evolve water vapor ( from seas ) to raise the clouds, and He drives them ( the winds and clouds ) to a dead land, and revive therewith ( falling rains from such clouds ) the earth after its death. Similarly, as such will be the resurrection! ( 35 / 9 )
However, in Koran’s stories which states what happened to the previous people we can find how God proves His Ability to raise dead people and get them back to life.
Or like the one ( He is Hozkial when he passed by Bethlem after its destroying by Pochtonser ) who passed by a village and it had tumbled over its roofs. He said “ Oh! How Allah ever bring this village to life after its death? So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then He raised him up (again ) and then He asked him: “ How long did you remain (dead ) ? The man answered “ (Perhaps ) I remained ( dead) a day or a part of a day “ He said “ Nay, you have remained ( dead) for a hundred years, look even at your food and your drink, they show no change, and look at your donkey! Thus We have made of you a sign for the people, and look to the bones how We set them up ( or weaves them ) and then clothe them with flesh.” When this was clearly shown to him ( to the man ), he said “ I know ( now) that Allah is Able to do All things.”
And ( remember ) when Abraham said, “ My Lord! Show me how You give life to the dead.” He ( Allah ) said “ Do you not believe?” He ( Abraham ) said “ Yes indeed, but to assure my heart.” Then He said “ Take four birds, then cut them into pieces and put each portion of them on every hill. Then call them, they will come to you in haste. So you should know that Allah is All-Mighty and All-Wise.( 2/ 259-260 )
So, God asks us as Muslim to recite the following verses if we are real Muslims.
And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Allah has power over all things. Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. Those who remember Allah ( always, and in prayers in all positions ) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides. They are thinking deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, ( expressing their respect and saying ) “ Our Lord! You have not created ( all ) this with no objectives, Glory to You!( Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of fire. Our Lord! Verily, whom You admit to the Fire, indeed, You have disgraced him, and never will the Zalimun ( polytheists and wrong- doers) find any helpers ( in the day of resurrection ). “ Our Lord! Verily, We have heard the call of one ( Mohammed ) calling to Faith: “ Believe in Your Lord,” and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and remit from us our evil deeds, and make us die in the state of righteousness along with Al-Abrar ( those who are obedient to Allah and follow strictly His Orders ). Our Lord! Grant us what You promised unto us through Your Messengers and disgrace us not on the Day of resurrection, for You never break Your Promise.” ( 3 / 190 - 194 )
* Go straight, i.e. they followed really the religion of Islamic Monotheism, believed in the O neness of Allah, and worshipped none but Him Alone, performed all that was ordained by Allah ( good deeds) and abstained from that was forbidden by Allah ( sins and bad deeds )
Those who commit sins, crimes, opressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupts.
** Some explanation relates it to the mental or the psychological state of the human being..
***Or the soul or spirit, and it is a sign to something which differentiates between the living and non-living human being. It is unknown to us and the Koran tells that it is something that belongs to Allah.
And they ask you ( O Mohammad ) concerning the Ruh, Say : “The Ruh is the concern of my Lord, and what knowledg you have gained is too little.”( 17 / 85
Good deeds which follows the wisdom of God.
Bad deeds that are against the submission to the Will of God. |

Islamic banking is that kind of banks that builds its strategy on the Holy Quran and Sunna , when investing your money with Islamic banking you will bring yourself closer to God's path , fight many social ills that resulted from commercial banks ; you will also help in the development of your country , achieving the welfare of your society , protecting your country from any foreign exploitation , showing respect to your religion , fighting the unknown powers that lay heavy hand onthe neck of all the world's peoples .
Commercial or usury banks builds its economy on usury which is as old as the human history . it was practiced by certain rich persons who used to lend money at high interest . These persons are now substituted with whatever called Commercial banks , these banks don't differ at all from the old money-lenders .These banks trade in money taking from this at low interest and giving that at high interest creating so many economic ,social and moral crises .
It is because of these crises that all the revealed religions banned usury whish is considered a heinous sin Islam ; reading some holy texts from Quran and the Hadiths reveals how heinous sin usury is .
God says in the Holy Quran what means " Those who swallow usury cannot rise up save as he ariseth whom the devil hath prostrated by (his) touch. That is because they say: Trade is just like usury; whereas Allah permitteth trading and forbiddeth usury. He unto whom an admonition from his Lord cometh, and (he) refraineth (in obedience thereto), he shall keep (the profits of) that which is past, and his affair (henceforth) is with Allah. As for him who returneth (to usury) Such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein. (Al-Baqara :275)
The state of the money –lender in this life is just like a man who is touched by devil , always in troubles , thinking , deviated and completely absorbed in his affairs and his state in the hereafter is greater .
God says in the Holy Quran what means " O ye who believe! Fear God, and give up what remains of your demand for usury, if ye are indeed believers.” Quran Verse 2:278 (Chapter Al-Baqara)
Verses like such (”…if ye are indeed believers.”) further highlights the gravity of offence by exhorting people to obey if they indeed think themselves as Muslims.
Quran not only put a stop on Usury but it also encourages leniency towards debt-ridden as way to social upliftment.
God says in the Holy Quran what means " Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity: for He loveth not creatures ungrateful and wicked. (2/276)
Usury has penetrated the very structure of our economic systems and financial institutions. The hardship has become collective. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has spoken of the coming of such an age as a sign of the coming of the last day. Prophet Mohummed said “There will come an age where everybody eats usury and those who don’t will be touched by its dust.”
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said, “If adultery and usury spread in a village, the people of that village are asking for the punishment of Allah.” the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed usury, those who take it, write its contract and those who witness such a contract.
The effects of usury is so wide and uncountable , it has so many consequences in the long run ;
Economic: Dependence on interest discourages people from working/trading to earn money and the value of work/trade is reduced. Such people won’t bother to take the trouble of running a business or risking money in trade/industry. For most of the readers this statement may not make sense (or won’t be able to relate) as they themselves are from class of Workers or Traders (and not money-lenders).
Moral: Acceptance of Usury discourages people from doing good to one another and lend out of good will. A society which encourages interest on lending will require needy people to pay back more than he borrowed, which quite often is a source of huge burden.
Social: If interest is allowed, the rich (who are most likely to be lender) will exploit the poor (borrower). As a result, the rich becomes richer and the poor becomes poorer. This generates envy and hatred among the poor toward the rich, resulting in social disorders, conflicts and at times breeds revolutions & movements.
Islamic banking renders the solution .The rules regarding Islamic finance are quite simple and can be summed up as follows:
a) Any predetermined payment over and above the actual amount of principal is prohibited.
Islam allows only one kind of loan and that is qard-el-hassan (literally good loan) whereby the lender does not charge any interest or additional amount over the money lent. Traditional Muslim jurists have construed this principle so strictly that, according to one commentator "this prohibition applies to any advantage or benefits that the lender might secure out of the qard (loan) such as riding the borrower's mule, eating at his table, or even taking advantage of the shade of his wall." The principle derived from the quotation emphasises that associated or indirect benefits are prohibited.
b) The lender must share in the profits or losses arising out of the enterprise for which the money was lent. Islam encourages Muslims to invest their money and to become partners in order to share profits and risks in the business instead of becoming creditors. As defined in the Shari'ah, or Islamic law, Islamic finance is based on the belief that the provider of capital and the user of capital should equally share the risk of business ventures, whether those are industries, farms, service companies or simple trade deals. Translated into banking terms, the depositor, the bank and the borrower should all share the risks and the rewards of financing business ventures. This is unlike the interest-based commercial banking system, where all the pressure is on the borrower: he must pay back his loan, with the agreed interest, regardless of the success or failure of his venture.
The principle which thereby emerges is that Islam encourages investments in order that the community may benefit. However, it is not willing to allow a loophole to exist for those who do not wish to invest and take risks but rather content with hoarding money or depositing money in a bank in return for receiving an increase on these funds for no risk (other than the bank becoming insolvent). Accordingly, under Islam, either people invest with risk or suffer loss through devaluation by inflation by keeping their money idle. Islam encourages the notion of higher risks and higher returns and promotes it by leaving no other avenue available to investors. The objective is that high risk investments provide a stimulus to the economy and encourage entrepreneurs to maximise their efforts.
c) Making money from money is not Islamically acceptable.
Money is only a medium of exchange, a way of defining the value of a thing; it has no value in itself, and therefore should not be allowed to give rise to more money, via fixed interest payments, simply by being put in a bank or lent to someone else. The human effort, initiative, and risk involved in a productive venture are more important than the money used to finance it. Muslim jurists consider money as potential capital rather than capital, meaning that money becomes capital only when it is invested in business. Accordingly, money advanced to a business as a loan is regarded as a debt of the business and not capital and, as such, it is not entitled to any return (i.e. interest). Muslims are encouraged to purchase and are discouraged from keeping money idle so that, for instance, hoarding money is regarded as being unacceptable. In Islam, money represents purchasing power which is considered to be the only proper use of money. This purchasing power (money) cannot be used to make more purchasing power (money) without undergoing the intermediate step of it being used for the purchase of goods and services.
d) Gharar (Uncertainty, Risk or Speculation) is also prohibited. Under this prohibition any transaction entered into should be free from uncertainty, risk and speculation. Contracting parties should have perfect knowledge of the counter values intended to be exchanged as a result of their transactions. Also, parties cannot predetermine a guaranteed profit. This is based on the principle of 'uncertain gains' which, on a strict interpretation, does not even allow an undertaking from the customer to repay the borrowed principal plus an amount to take into account inflation. The rationale behind the prohibition is the wish to protect the weak from exploitation. Therefore, options and futures are considered as un-Islamic and so are forward foreign exchange transactions because rates are determined by interest differentials.
A number of Islamic scholars disapprove the indexation of indebtedness to inflation and explain this prohibition within the framework of qard-el-hassan. According to those scholars, the creditor advances the loan to win the blessings of Allah and expects to obtain the reward from Allah alone. A number of transactions are treated as exceptions to the principle of gharar : sales with advanced payment (bai' bithaman ajil); contract to manufacture (Istisna); and hire contract (Ijara). However, there are legal requirements for the conclusion of these contracts to be organised in a way which minimises risk.
e) Investments should only support practices or products that are not forbidden -or even discouraged- by Islam. Trade in alcohol, for example would not be financed by an Islamic bank; a real-estate loan could not be made for the construction of a casino; and the bank could not lend money to other banks at interest. |

Civilians killed by bomb attack in Sarajevo market Picture by Rickard Larma - SIPA
"A few days ago Mr. Boutros Ghali informed me that the projectile which hit the Markale marketplace in Sarajevo was an act of (Bosnian) Muslim provocation". President Mitterrand of France, 1995
Open military confrontation in Bosnia-Herzegovina ended with the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement on 14th December 1995. The conflict had resulted in more than 160,000 deaths, and 2.5 million refugees and displaced persons. Not long before, the United Nations (UN) had ordered the first combat units from its rapid reaction force into Sarajevo, after after Serb rebels killed two French peacekeepers. Three Bosnian Serb shells had hit the French and Danish areas of a U.N. compound in Zetra, north of Sarajevo's centre killing a French peacekeeper and wounding another French soldier and a Dane. A half-hour later, another French peacekeeper was killed and two wounded, one seriously, when a U.N. convoy was targeted by Serbs in the suburb of Butmir. The deaths brought the number of French dead to 42 since the Bosnian war began in April 1992 - and not all of them were killed by the Bosnian Serbs, a number of them were also killed in crossfire or deliberately by the forces of the Bosnian government.
Not only did the UN get tough with the Bosnian Serbs - whose political and military leaders have now been charged with war crimes - in 1995, NATO had become directly involved when when they ordered air strikes against the Bosnian Serbs. These attacks had been preceded by a series of barbaric attacks against civilians in the Markele market in Sarajevo, all of which were assumed to be the work of the Serb army laying siege to Sarajevo.
There were three attacks on the markets, all of which were blamed on them: the first on 27th May 1992, killed 16 people, the second on 5th February 1994 killed 68, and the third on 28th August 1995, killed 37. The last attack is the most significant, as it has been widely alleged, by members of the UN Mission in Bosnia, UN Commanding officers and of course, predictably, the Bosnian Serbs themselves, that this one in particular was staged by elements within the Bosnian government to provide the pretext for NATO military involvement in the war. In subsequent attacks, bombs and bullets used by the NATO jets used Depleted Uranium (DU) which is now estimated to have claimed the lives of some Serb 300 civilians who lived in the vicinity of the bases hit by NATO, according to reports that surfaced in 2001. What evidence is there for the claims that the Bosnian government carried out these attacks ?
The first attack in 1992
The first of three attacks happened on 27th May 1992 when 16 people killed in a "mortar attack" on a bread queue in Vase Miskina street in Sarajevo. As The Independent (22nd August 1992) noted, the televised scenes of civilians cut to pieces by an explosion as they queued for bread horrified international public opinion, and added growing pressure for NATO to "intervene" in the civil war against the Bosnian Serbs. Vivid footage showed dead bodies littering the street and "terrified crying people sitting on the pavement in pools of blood". The attacks came shortly before a meeting by European Union ambassadors to consider imposing sanctions on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. UN officials from the start were "suspicious about the circumstances but would not go public with their thoughts without jeopardising the UN mission" in Bosnia. Classified reports given to the commander of the UN peace keepers, General Satish Nambiar, concluded that it was likely that the army of the Bosnian government in Sarajevo carried out the attack. In fact, they were reported to believe it wasn't a mortar attack at all but a "command-detonated explosion - probably in a can". The impact mark left by the "mortar" on the market square floor was nowhere "near as large as we came to expect with a mortar round lading on a paved surface". This is also supported by another UN commander in Bosnia, General Michael Rose of the British army, who according to his book Dispatch the Bosnian government in Sarajevo shelled their own people to get a military response by NATO against the Bosnian Serbs (The Observer, 28th March 1999). NATO launched air strikes against the Bosnian Serbs as a result of this attack.
According to The Independent, United Nations (UN) officials and senior Western military officers believe that the attack in 1992 was carried out by the Bosnian government, "To win world sympathy and trigger intervention". This was also expressed in confidential reports circulating at the UN headquarters in New York, and in classified briefings to US policy makers in Washington, according to the British newspaper. The attack on the bread queue in Vase Miskina Street also led to draconian sanctions against Yugoslavia imposed by the Security Council (resolution 757) on 30th May 1992 (which had been preceded by Yugoslavia's expulsion from the WHO). All supplies of raw materials to the well-developed pharmaceutical industry of Yugoslavia for production of medicines were immediately suspended. The justification for blaming Yugoslavia for attacks carried out in Bosnia was based on Western intelligence disinformation that the country was directing the war on behalf of the Bosnian Serbs.
The second attack in 1994
The second attack on a market in Sarajevo happened on 5th February 1994 when a single mortar round left 68 dead and 200 wounded. Some people immediately questioned how son many civilians had been killed or wounded by one mortar bomb. Furthermore, officials from the Bosnian government did allow anyone from UNPROFOR to verify what had happened. Despite vehement denials from the Bosnian Serbs, the US news channel, CNN, immediately reported that they were responsible for the shocking carnage that the attack left, which CNN claimed was "caused by a Serb mortar bomb". The US President Bill Clinton added to this saying it was "highly likely" that the Bosnian Serbs were responsible for it.
Thus, US ambassador to the UN, Madeline Albright and the US presidential security advisor Anthony Lake, immediately called for NATO air strikes against the Bosnian Serbs. Yet there were already people claiming that even the UN itself did not suspect the Bosnian Serbs, but this appears to have been suppressed by the Western media, possibly acting under covert British and American pressure, assuming the the whole purpose of the mortar attack was to provide the pretext for NATO military involvement in the Balkans for the first time. If this is not the case, then it is certainly hinted at by the former British Foreign Secretary David Owen in his book Balkan Odyssey (Victor Gollanz, London, 1995):
"People around General Rose never tried to hide the fact that at his meeting with Bosnian Muslim leaders (President Alia Izetbegovic and General Delic) he said that he had just received some information which shows that the mortar bomb did not come from the area under Serb control but from the Muslim part of the city . . ."
However, Owen's account of the the Market square massacre in 1994 has been criticised by Noel Malcom in a review of his book in The Sunday Telegraph on 12th November 1995.
When discussing the market-place massacre in Sarajevo of February 1994, Lord Owen goes on at length about a UN investigation which concluded that the mortar shell had been fired from a Bosnian Government position. Dramatically, he confirms that General Rose put pressure on Bosnian ministers by threatening to reveal this finding, unless they did as they were told. What Lord Owen does not tell us is that a second, more thorough investigation found that the first had made mistakes in its calculations, and concluded that the shell could equally have come from the Serb side. It is surely inconceivable that Owen is unaware of this second report; yet he chooses not to mention it. Readers will have to draw their own conclusions about the overall reliability of this grotesquely vainglorious book.
But, Owen also fails to give any clear evidence as to the perpetrators of this attack - if you read his statement carefully, he is only telling us that the second investigation, although on one hand, described as "more thorough", still concluded that the shell could "equally" have come from the Serb side. This indicates to me that their is still no hard evidence that either side were responsible. Bosnian Serb and Russian claims should be treated with scepticism (as they have a vested interest, from a propaganda point-of-view, in making sure these allegations are widely circulated). But the claims of the UN and representatives of various NATO countries serving as peacekeepers should be treated as serious and worthy of investigation.
From example, On 6th June 1996, Yasushi Akashi, UN special envoy for Bosnia, told a German journalist working for DPA in New York, that there was a secret UN report accusing the Bosnian government forces of this massacre. It was claimed that this secret report was passed on to the UN Secretary General, Boutros Boutros Ghali, who did not publish it in the interest of "higher politics". Citing this UN report, B. Volker, a French journalist working for TV TF1 said that the mortar bomb was fired from Bosnian government positions. Volker also quotes the words of President Mitterrand: "A few days ago Mr. Boutros Ghali informed me that the projectile which hit the Markale marketplace in Sarajevo was an act of (Bosnian) Muslim provocation".
The third attack in 1995
The third attack, on 28th August 1995 also hit market and left 37 dead and 90 wounded. When UN issued a declaration blaming the Bosnian Serbs, it evidently ignored the report of the British and French experts as well as the assessment of the UN's artillery expert for the Sarajevo sector, a Russian colonel, A. Demurenko. Soon after the attack, NATO launched extensive air strikes against Bosnian Serb military and civilian targets. The strategy appeared pre-planned as it coincided with an joint Croat and Bosnian government offensive against the Bosnian Serbs. The attacks changed the course of the war in Bosnia as enabled NATO to enter the conflict on behalf of the Bosnian government and Croat forces. After this attack, President Yeltsin gave official credence to reports circulating in the Russian media that a "third party" was responsible for the mortar attack on the bread queue. Yeltsin said that Russia "insists" that the UN "look again" at the attacks as there was new evidence indicating that it was not the Bosnian Serb's who carried out the attack. Despite this, NATO went ahead and launched air strikes. One military adviser to the foreign ministry, General Boris Gromov, even claimed (with no evidence provided) that one of the NATO powers was involved in the mortar attack "as a provocation". Yeltsin also said:
"Why am l against the expansion of NATO ? This (mortar attack in Sarajevo) is the first sign of what might happen when NATO comes right up to the borders of the Russian Federation. Those who insist on the expansion of NATO are making a major political mistake. The flame of war would burst out across the whole of Europe" (The Guardian, 9th September 1995).
The Russians and Bosnian Serbs have claimed that the third attack was prepared in advance over many months by "certain" Western secret services (probably including the CIA), and that Bosnian government troops under the commander of the General R. Delic carried it out. The reason for this, they argue, was to provide NATO with an opportunity not only discredit the Bosnian Serbs, but to provide the pretext to use heavy air strikes on them so as to destroy their military potential. The Russian intelligence service (FSB) were said to had known about the preparation of the plan since February 1995. Then a detailed plan, allegedly called Cyclone 2, was related to a secret memorandum, signed on 10th August 1995 at the Pleso airport in Zagreb, Croatia. The memorandum was signed for the UN by the commander of the UNPROFOR forces based Croatia and Bosnia,General B. Janvier and by Admiral L. Smith for NATO. This secret memorandum was only passed on, as "secret", on 13th September 1995 to the UN Security Council, when the main destruction of Serb targets had already taken place. According to article 7 of the memorandum UNPROFOR agreed to provide all information necessary for the NATO strikes against Serb targets to achieve the maximum success.
According to the FSB, the mortar was fired from the roof of a building near the market and they further claimed that the device was not a standard mortar bomb. Another author, Y. Bodansky, the director of the Republican parliamentary task force studying terrorism and unconventional warfare (Target America, Terrorism in the US Today, S.P.I. Books, Shapolsky Publishers, New York, 1993), believed that the Bosnian Serb intelligence service knew that "something was being planned" in Sarajevo. On 26th August 1995 (two days before the second massacre) he spoke by telephone to a senior official of the Republika Srpska in the Yugoslav capital, Belgrade, who told him anxiously that once again "something terrible is being planned against the Serbs" in Sarajevo. How much of this is true, made up or just a joint FSB-Bosnian Serb disinformation campaign is hard to assess.
Another report indicating that the Bosnian Serbs were not responsible for this market place attacks was published in The Sunday Times on October 1st 1995. It claimed that British ammunition experts serving with the UN in Sarajevo had "challenged" key evidence of the attack on the bread market which not only triggered NATO attacks against the Serbs in Bosnia, but turned the tide of the war against them. According to the newspaper, the British experts:
"found no evidence that the Bosnian Serbs had fired the lethal round"
Nora Beloff, writing in her book Yugoslavia: An Avoidable War (New European Publications, London, England, 1997), also allege that "that Bosnian government arranged to kill their own people" so as to get the Bosnian Serbs blamed. She alleges the news reporter Martin Bell, now an independent MP in Britain, had known about these allegations through his contacts with British UN officers but "he ignored what they might have told him". She repeats claims, as reported in David Owen's account of the bombings, that western experts had discovered that it was the Bosnian government forces and not the Bosnian Serbs who had been behind the attack in February 1994. Allegedly, when UNPROFOR wanted the Bosnian government to participate in truce negotiations, the British commander, General Michael Rose:
"Blackmailed the Bosnian Muslim leaders into submission. He told them that unless they agreed to cooperate, he would tell the international press that he had technical expertise proving that the grenade came from the Muslim, not the Serb, side" (Beloff, p112/113).
Other attacks supposedly carried out by the Bosnian government - and blamed on the Bosnian Serbs - include:
- 29th June 1992: Rocket attack on Sarajevo's TV station kills 5 people. Bosnian government troops implicated in this attack (The Sunday Times, October 1st 1995).
- 17th July 1992: A "choreographed" mortar salvo, 30 seconds after British Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd entered a building for a meeting with the Bosnian President, Alija Izetbegovic. The attack killed or wounded 10 bystanders - but not Hurd's guard of honor, who had clearly been forewarned and ducked for cover seconds before the attack.
- 4th August 1992: Bomb attacks which were filmed by the Western film crews at a funeral of two orphans in a cemetery in Sarajevo. The attacks were blamed on the Bosnian Serbs.
- 13th August 1992: After the Yugoslav Prime Minister Milan Panic arrives in Sarajevo airport for a meeting with Izetbegovic, a Bosnian government sniper kills US TV producer David Kaplan. The attacks disrupts the schedule of Panic, and he only manages to spend 20 minutes on the phone with Izetbegovic.
Philip Corwen, a senior member of the UN in Bosnia has recently written a book about his experience there (Dubious Mandate: A memoir of the UN in Bosnia, Summer 1995 [Duke, London, UK, 1999]):
"The French forces (the main UN armed force in Sarajevo) were continually harassed, shot at, blocked at, and threatened by Bosnian government forces . . . it was the French who pointed out that the Bosnian government was placing weapons systems next to UN facilities in order to draw fire from Serb artillery onto civilian and UN targets and thus provoke international outrage against the Serbs . .. (p178)
I recommend that readers interested in the background to the conflict in Bosnia read Corwen's book: His meticulous account shatters once and for all the "one victim - one enemy" myth promoted mainly by the Western media. For the record, l unequivocally condemn the war crimes and crimes against humanity carried out by the Bosnian Serb regime against the people of Sarajevo - whom they relentlessly bombed and shelled. The Bosnian Serb leaders Radovan Karadzic and General Ratko Mladic have been rightfully indicted by the International war crimes tribunal in the Netherlands - but why has this tribunal failed to indict Alija Izectbegovic, the Bosnian President and other senior officials of his government when there is clearly enough prima-facie evidence of their complicity in war crimes carried out by the Bosnian army ? I believe that the UN probably has ample evidence to show that the Bosnian government carried out these attacks in Sarajevo, but along with NATO, decided not to pursue charges against Bosnian government leaders for political reasons, and decided to sweep the whole story under the carpet and suppress it.
Footnote: an estimated 300 civilians killed after NATO used depleted Uranium in reprisal attacks
"Up to 300 men, women and children who lived close to the site of the (NATO) bombings in 1995 have died of cancers and leukemia over the last five years". Robert Fisk, 2001
Finally the bombings of the market place unleashed a wave of NATO air-strikes against Bosnian Serb military targets in and around Sarajevo. In these attacks, bombs and bullets used by the NATO jets used Depleted Uranium (DU) that is now estimated to have claimed the lives of some Serb 300 civilians who lived in the vicinity of the bases hit by NATO. According to Robert Fisk, writing in The Independent of Sunday on 14th January 2001, NATO subjected the Serb military bases and surrounding civilian areas to an intense bombardment between 30th August to 15th September 1995, using jets and artillery from Mount Igman just outside Sarajevo. Civilians living in the area surrounding the bases starting to begin suffering from a variety of symptoms now linked to the use of DU by NATO in Bosnia. NATO governments have so far shown little interest in helping the civilian victims of DU in either Bosnia, Yugoslavia or during the assault on Iraq in

Who Is the Prophet Muhammad pbuh?
|
Muhammad pbuh was born in Makkah in the year 570. Since his father died before his birth and his mother died shortly thereafter, he was raised by his uncle who was from the respected tribe of Quraysh. He was raised illiterate, unable to read or write, and remained so till his death. His people, before his mission as a prophet, were ignorant of science and most of them were illiterate. As he grew up, he became known to be truthful, honest, trustworthy, generous, and sincere. He was so trustworthy that they called him the Trustworthy. Muhammad pbuh was very religious, and he had long detested the decadence and idolatry of his society. |
At the age of forty, Muhammad pbuh received his first revelation from God through the Angel Gabriel. The revelations continued for twenty-three years, and they are collectively known as the Quran.
As soon as he began to recite the Quran and to preach the truth which God had revealed to him, he and his small group of followers suffered persecution from unbelievers. The persecution grew so fierce that in the year 622 God gave them the command to emigrate. This emigration from Makkah to the city of Madinah, some 260 miles to the north, marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar.
After several years, Muhammad pbuh and his followers were able to return to Makkah, where they forgave their enemies. Before Muhammad pbuh died, at the age of sixty-three, the greater part of the Arabian Peninsula had become Muslim, and within a century of his death, Islam had spread to Spain in the West and as far East as China. Among the reasons for the rapid and peaceful spread of Islam was the truth and clarity of its doctrine. Islam calls for faith in only one God, Who is the only one worthy of worship.
The Prophet Muhammad pbuh was a perfect example of an honest, just, merciful, compassionate, truthful, and brave human being. Though he was a man, he was far removed from all evil characteristics and strove solely for the sake of God and His reward in the Hereafter. Moreover, in all his actions and dealings, he was ever mindful and fearful of God. |

A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History by Michael H. Hart
My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels. Of humble origins, Muhammad founded and promulgated one of the world's great religions, and became an immensely effective political leader. Today, thirteen centuries after his death, his influence is still powerful and pervasive. The majority of the persons in this book had the advantage of being born and raised in centers of civilization, highly cultured or politically pivotal nations.
Muhammad, however, was born in the year 570, in the city of Mecca, in southern Arabia, at that time a backward area of the world, far from the centers of trade, art, and learning. Orphaned at age six, he was reared in modest surroundings. Islamic tradition tells us that he was illiterate. His economic position improved when, at age twenty-five, he married a wealthy widow.
Nevertheless, as he approached forty, there was little outward indication that he was a remarkable person. Most Arabs at that time were pagans, who believed in many gods. There were, however, in Mecca, a small number of Jews and Christians; it was from them no doubt that Muhammad first learned of a single, omnipotent God who ruled the entire universe.
When he was forty years old, Muhammad became convinced that this one true God (Allah) was speaking to him, and had chosen him to spread the true faith. For three years, Muhammad preached only to close friends and associates. Then, about 613, he began preaching in public. As he slowly gained converts, the Meccan authorities came to consider him a dangerous nuisance. In 622, fearing for his safety, Muhammad fled to Medina (a city some 200 miles north of Mecca), where he had been offered a position of considerable political power.
This flight, called the Hegira, was the turning point of the Prophet's life. In Mecca, he had had few followers. In Medina, he had many more, and he soon acquired an influence that made him a virtual dictator. During the next few years, while Muhammad s following grew rapidly, a series of battles were fought between Medina and Mecca. This was ended in 630 with Muhammad's triumphant return to Mecca as conqueror. The remaining two and one-half years of his life witnessed the rapid conversion of the Arab tribes to the new religion.
When Muhammad died, in 632, he was the effective ruler of all of southern Arabia. The Bedouin tribesmen of Arabia had a reputation as fierce warriors. But their number was small; and plagued by disunity and internecine warfare, they had been no match for the larger armies of the kingdoms in the settled agricultural areas to the north. However, unified by Muhammad for the first time in history, and inspired by their fervent belief in the one true God, these small Arab armies now embarked upon one of the most astonishing series of conquests in human history.
To the northeast of Arabia lay the large Neo-Persian Empire of the Sassanids; to the northwest lay the Byzantine, or Eastern Roman Empire, centered in Constantinople. Numerically, the Arabs were no match for their opponents. On the field of battle, though, the inspired Arabs rapidly conquered all of Mesopotamia, Syria, and Palestine. By 642, Egypt had been wrested from the Byzantine Empire, while the Persian armies had been crushed at the key battles of Qadisiya in 637, and Nehavend in 642.
But even these enormous conquests-which were made under the leadership of Muhammad's close friends and immediate successors, Abu Bakr and 'Umaribn al-Khattab - did not mark the end of the Arab advance. By 711, the Arab armies had swept completely across North Africa to the Atlantic Ocean There they turned north and, crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, overwhelmed the Visigothic kingdom in Spain. For a while, it must have seemed that the Moslems would overwhelm all of Christian Europe.
However, in 732, at the famous Battle of Tours, a Moslem army, which had advanced into the center of France, was at last defeated by the Franks. Nevertheless, in a scant century of fighting, these Bedouin tribesmen, inspired by the word of the Prophet, had carved out an empire stretching from the borders of India to the Atlantic Ocean-the largest empire that the world had yet seen. And everywhere that the armies conquered, large-scale conversion to the new faith eventually followed. Now, not all of these conquests proved permanent.
The Persians, though they have remained faithful to the religion of the Prophet, have since regained their independence from the Arabs. And in Spain, more than seven centuries of warfare 5 finally resulted in the Christians reconquering the entire peninsula. However, Mesopotamia and Egypt, the two cradles of ancient civilization, have remained Arab, as has the entire coast of North Africa. The new religion, of course, continued to spread, in the intervening centuries, far beyond the borders of the original Moslem conquests.
Currently it has tens of millions of adherents in Africa and Central Asia and even more in Pakistan and northern India, and in Indonesia. In Indonesia, the new faith has been a unifying factor. In the Indian subcontinent, however, the conflict between Moslems and Hindus is still a major obstacle to unity.
How, then, is one to assess the overall impact of Muhammad on human history? Like all religions, Islam exerts an enormous influence upon the lives of its followers. It is for this reason that the founders of the world's great religions all figure prominently in this book . Since there are roughly twice as many Christians as Moslems in the world, it may initially seem strange that Muhammad has been ranked higher than Jesus.
There are two principal reasons for that decision.
First, Muhammad played a far more important role in the development of Islam than Jesus did in the development of Christianity. Although Jesus was responsible for the main ethical and moral precepts of Christianity (insofar as these differed from Judaism), St. Paul was the main developer of Christian theology, its principal proselytizer, and the author of a large portion of the New Testament.
Muhammad, however, was responsible for both the theology of Islam and its main ethical and moral principles. In addition, he played the key role in proselytizing the new faith, and in establishing the religious practices of Islam. Moreover, he is the author of the Moslem holy scriptures, the Koran, a collection of certain of Muhammad's insights that he believed had been directly revealed to him by Allah. Most of these utterances were copied more or less faithfully during Muhammad's lifetime and were collected together in authoritative form not long after his death.
Webmaster's note: Mr Hart writes, "he is the author of the Moslem holy scriptures" which is INCORRECT. Prophet Muhammad was the person to whom the Quran was revealed by its Author - God.
The Koran therefore, closely represents Muhammad's ideas and teachings and to a considerable extent his exact words. No such detailed compilation of the teachings of Christ has survived.
Since the Koran is at least as important to Moslems as the Bible is to Christians, the influence of Muhammed through the medium of the Koran has been enormous It is probable that the relative influence of Muhammad on Islam has been larger than the combined influence of Jesus Christ and St. Paul on Christianity.
On the purely religious level, then, it seems likely that Muhammad has been as influential in human history as Jesus. Furthermore, Muhammad (unlike Jesus) was a secular as well as a religious leader. In fact, as the driving force behind the Arab conquests, he may well rank as the most influential political leader of all time. Of many important historical events, one might say that they were inevitable and would have occurred even without the particular political leader who guided them.
For example, the South American colonies would probably have won their independence from Spain even if Simon Bolivar had never lived. But this cannot be said of the Arab conquests.
Nothing similar had occurred before Muhammad, and there is no reason to believe that the conquests would have been achieved without him.
The only comparable conquests in human history are those of the Mongols in the thirteenth century, which were primarily due to the influence of Genghis Khan. These conquests, however, though more extensive than those of the Arabs, did not prove permanent, and today the only areas occupied by the Mongols are those that they held prior to the time of Genghis Khan.
It is far different with the conquests of the Arabs. From Iraq to Morocco, there extends a whole chain of Arab nations united not merely by their faith in Islam, but also by their Arabic language, history, and culture. The centrality of the Koran in the Moslem religion and the fact that it is written in Arabic have probably prevented the Arab language from breaking up into mutually unintelligible dialects, which might otherwise have occurred in the intervening thirteen centuries.
Differences and divisions between these Arab states exist, of course, and they are considerable, but the partial disunity should not blind us to the important elements of unity that have continued to exist. For instance, neither Iran nor Indonesia, both oil-producing states and both Islamic in religion, joined in the oil embargo of the winter of 1973-74. It is no coincidence that all of the Arab states, and only the Arab states, participated in the embargo. We see, then, that the Arab conquests of the seventh century have continued to play an important role in human history, down to the present day. It is this unparalleled combination of secular and religious influence which I feel entitles Muhammad to be considered the most influential single figure in human history.
Webmaster's note: Phrases like "the influence of Muhammed through the medium of the Koran" and "Muhammad's triumphant return to Mecca as conqueror" are very likely to misinform the readers because they suggest that the Qur'an is but a tool of the Prophet and that Islam was spread by the sword for no other reason than to conquer lands for power.

You may be a communist or a believer in democracy and freedom. No matter what you are, and no matter what your ideological and political beliefs, personal and social habits happen to be - you must still know this man.
Prophethood in Islam Prophethood is not unknown to heavenly revealed religions, such as Judaism and Christianity. In Islam, however, it has a special status and significance.
A Guidance to Follow Muhammad as a man had already died, but as a Prophet he left behind him a legacy in the form of the Qur’an and the Sunnah. He stressed the urgent need to hold firmly to these two sources during his Farewell speech in the valley of Arafat. If people hold fast to them, they will never go astray.
Allah's Messenger to the Whole Mankind Prophet Muhammad (r) (Salallahu ‘alayhi wa salam, meaning: May the peace and blessings of Allah I be upon him) was Allâh's great Prophet and Messenger like Jesus, the Son of Mary. The Prophet's mission, however, is universal. Allâh (I) (Subhanahu wa ta’ala, meaning: the Exalted, Most Glorious) tells mankind that Prophet Muhammad (r) is no more than a Messenger
The Best of Creation The life of the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Him) has been said by his wife, Aisha (May Allah (S) be pleased with her) to be like "a walking Qur`an", embodying the Laws of Almighty Allah (subhaana wa taalah).
The Coming of the Most Noble Messenger With eyes as bright as the shining sun, a reality on the lips more brilliant than the light of the sun, a heart more fresh than the flowers of the gardens of Yathrib and Taif, habits and morals more decent than the moon- lit nights of the Hijaz

The True Religion The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word "Islam" itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism
A-Z of Islam Islam is the complete submission and obedience to Allah (God). The name Allah (God) in Islam never refers to Muhammad (pbuh), as many Christians may think; Allah is the personal name of God.What do Muslims believe about Allah?
There is no God but Allah – A way of Life for Muslims "La llaha illa Allah, Muhammad Rasul Allah" -"There is no god except Allah" - is the first part of the Islamic declaration of faith, meaning that there is no one to be worshipped except God; "Muhammad Rasul Allah" - "Muhammad is the Messenger of God"- is the second part..
Message of Peace A major part of the Prophet’s mission was to bring peace to the world. One of the ways in which he strove towards this end was to attempt to convince people that all men and women, albeit inhabiting very different regions of the world, and different from one another in color, culture and language, et cetera, were in fact blood brothers and sisters.
Instilling Brotherhood among Muslims Sure, Islam isn’t racist; almost any Muslim will tell you that. But Islam’s very strong stance against racism and prejudice wasn’t just demonstrated in words and principles: [O Mankind, We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other.
Honesty in Financial Dealings Islam has stressed and asserted the importance of honesty in monetary dealings and highlighted its vital role in social stability and peacefulness. The Holy Qur’an and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) have made it clear to us that the true Muslim is he who is honest and upright in his business and monetary dealing with others, even if they weren’t Muslims.
Moral System of Islam Islam has laid down universal fundamental rights for humanity as a whole, which are to be observed and respected under all circumstances. To achieve these rights Islam provides not only legal safeguards but also a very effective moral system. Thus whatever leads to the welfare of the individual or the society
Human Rights through the Lens of Islam Contrary to popular belief, the struggle for universal human rights is not a modern one. Although some claim that human rights is a Western concept or ideology (1), Islam was among the first institutions to advocate and implement such human rights as universal equality and women's rights.
Sword of islam The first few who embraced the "new" religion in Makkah in the Arabian Peninsula at the hands of the Prophet were his wife Khadijah, his servant Zaid, and his eleven year old cousin Ali. Among the ones who later joined this faith were the honest merchant, Abu Bakr; the iron man of Arabia, Umar the Great; the shy businessman, Uthman; the Prophet's brave uncle, Hamza: and the slave of a pagan, Bilal. They simply couldn't resist the “MAGIC SWORD” of a humble and lonely Prophet!
What does Islam say about Terrorism?! Islam, a religion of mercy, does not permit terrorism. In the Koran, God has said: "God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers" [Koran 60:8]
Prophet Muhammad's Manners of Performing Prayer The objective of this concise pamphlet is to explain how prophet Mohammed (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to perform his prayers. I would like to present this explanation to every male and female Muslim so that they may strive to take up the Prophet's manner in performing their prayers as a model for them.

THE MILDNESS AND FORBEARANCE OF GOD’S MESSENGER Mildness is another dimension of the character of God’s Messenger, upon him be peace and blessings. He was a bright mirror in which God reflected His Mercy
THE GENEROSITY OF GOD’S MESSENGER God’s Messenger is, in the whole of creation, the most polished mirror, in which God Almighty’s Names and Attributes are reflected to the highest degree. Being a perfect manifestation of God’s Names and Attributes and an embodiment of the Qur’an and Islam, he is the greatest and most decisive and comprehensive proof of God’s Existence and Unity and the truth of Islam and the Qur’an. One who saw him remembered God automatically. Each virtue he
THE MODESTY OF GOD’S MESSENGER In social life each man has a window called status through which he looks out to see others and be seen. If the window is built higher than his real stature, he tries, through vanity and giving himself airs, to stretch himself up to be seen taller than he really is. If the window is set lower than his real stature, he must bow in humility in order to look out, to see and be seen.
MUHAMMAD’S CHARACTER AND HIGH MORALITY PROVE HIS PROPHETHOOD Muhammad was the humblest at the zenith of his achievements If a man’s world-admired accomplishments or the wealth and fame he has gained do not change him, if he can remain as humble as he was at the beginning of his career, this shows that person’s strength of character, morality and virtue. Despite his unparalleled achievements, which force even his enemies to place him at the top of the greatest men of human history, the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, was poorer and more humble when he entered Makka victoriously than he was at the beginning of his mission.

THE PROPHET AND HIS WIVES The Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace, is the most excellent example as father and husband. He was very kind and tolerant towards his wives. They could not live, they could not envisage life, without him..
GOD’S MESSENGER AND CHILDREN He treated his children and grandchildren with extraordinary compassion and never neglected to direct their faces to the Hereafter and towards good deeds. He smiled at them, caressed and loved them, but he did not allow them to neglect the matters related to their afterlife. In worldly matters, he was extremely open
THE EDUCATIONAL ATMOSPHERE IN THE TIME OF HAPPINESS In the house of the Messenger, upon him be peace and blessings, there was a permanent awe. Every action was awesome. It was possible for those who caught a glance of him to feel the allure-
THE REASONS BEHIND THE SEVERAL MARRIAGES OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD Some critics of Islam, either because they are not aware of the facts about the marriages of the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace, or because they are not honest and objective about those facts, have reviled the Prophet as a self-indulgent libertine. They have accused him of character failings which are hardly compatible with being of average virtue, let alone with being a Prophet and God’s last Messenger and the best model for all mankind to follow. However
A Little about his wife Aisha The life of Aishah is proof that a woman can be far more learned than men and that she can be the teacher of scholars and experts. Her life is also proof that a woman can exert influence over men and women and provide them with inspiration and leadership . Her life is also proof that the same woman can be totally feminine and be a source of pleasure, joy and comfort to her husband.
Why did Prophet Muhammad peace be upon marry young Aisha? Through the centuries, orientalists have advance numerous accusations and far-fetched theories to discredit Islam and its last Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him). Praise be to Allah alone, all such accusations have been successfully refuted by the Muslims Ummah. Currently, one of the ‘reinvented’ accusations against the noble character of the Prophet is about his marriage to young Aisha Siddiqa

THE BLESSED COMPANIONS OF THE PROPHET
Muhammad is the Messenger of God, and those who are with Him are hard against the unbelievers and merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and falling prostrate (in worship), seeking grace from God and (His) good pleasure. The mark of them is on their foreheads from the traces of prostration. Such is their likeness in the Torah and their likeness in the Gospel--like as sown grain that sends forth its shoots and strengthens it and rises firm upon its stalk, delighting the sowers with amazement -that He may enrage the unbelievers with (the sight of) them. God has promised unto such of them as believe and do good works, forgiveness and immense reward. (Al-Fath, 48.29)
